That kind of sucks; I was hoping for a step up
lol
and no it does not add to the appeal of the place,do you even live here?
Let me explain about enjoying the clutter and general disorganized feeling around Cane Bay Beach. I lived several years in St Croix and many years in the states. I saw beautiful, but "undeveloped" areas in both places that were "improved" by development. This would be a classic ...pave paradise and ...parking lot..." Every time that I am on the beach at Cane Bay ( I don't go on weekends) I have enjoyed the people and the feeling. It is one of the nicest dive and snorkel beaches anywhere. I even enjoy MardiCroix and the mini gridlock with fun all around.
I suspect, you live in that area and you would like less traffic congestion. Can you imagine what it would be like to have hundreds of cars in parking lots with white lines keeping them in place. Hey, I drive through Christiansted to get home through jump ups, parades and sewage spills. Some people like everything to be organized and developed, but not me.
yeah i do live up here, the only place on island i wanted to buy a house, and well cane bay sucks on weekends because everyone else seems to think that because there are no private beaches here on stx they need to come up here and leech off of our beauty and pee and stuff
pee and stuff?
Do you like anything TRW--you hate America, people in general, Tim specifically, your life, your job....on and on.
lol hbic,i'm a pretty happy guy believe it or not, there are aspects of life that i'm not happy about,i like my house, puttering in the yard my dogs and cats, books, movies my secret beach,i really try to keep my life as simple as possible, but i refuse to sugarcoat anything and i have some strong opinions
it must be a NIMBY thing with people from having lived in inner cities most of my life and when we moved here cane bay was pretty much empty unless it was season,it's odd because i don't feel that way when i'm in town or at work, just when i'm at home,STT drove me crazy when i wasthere for 2 months, too many people in too small and area,i hated it but my number 2 loves it over there, she'd be bored to death over here and of course the STT people on this must board love it as well or they would have moved over here by now
Having lived on STX - I can say that STT is a totally different animal! I would love for a local to show me around and help me get acclamated. I've been to Havensight, YHG, TUTU, Red Hook - but that's about it.
Oh please make me love it like I do STX!!!

Hey Linda from Michigan
Why the double talk?
Word has it that the newly renovated Cane Bay Beach Bar will open this coming Friday Sept 25th.
I wonder if all socialist waitstaff declare all of their tips to the IRB so that they can share with the less fortunate in an honest manner?
Sorry - I couldnt resist.
Cheers.
Resist what? I'm sorry but I have no idea what you are talking about. Socialists?
Has anyone had a sneak peek at their menu? Is the place still going to be a "beach bar"--i.e., will we be able to go up their from the beach, wet and sandy, and not get chased out? I'm really looking forward to having that spot operational again, but would be disappointed if it strayed too far from the casual beach bar format.

Bernie - No haven't seen menu but heard that it will not be a "gourmet" type but rather more like a casual format & a beach/bar type menu. I agree with your hope that this new place will allow walkups from the beach. New steps going from N Shore road up to the restaurant suggest that they will.
Frank and Katherine have been busting their hump and I think his menu will be great!
That's such a great spot, I hope they can get a break now and then to enjoy the view 🙂
So far, good news it seems. This spot is one of my favorites on the island, so I'm really hoping they can find a format that works.

Frank was in today buying some food and gave me a snippet of info.
Menu will consist of braised meats, local fruits, pulled pork, brisket, and fresh made french fries to name a few.
Soggy is fine but no dogs allowed in the restaurant. But, there's a beach bar around the outside where you can get drinks, food, and dogs are welcome to hang out.
I'm so glad to see that they will be doing pulled pork. Love that. Hope they can get nice fresh kaiser rolls to go with.
Homemade fries. YUM!!!!!!!!!
Any further info/reviews of the new Cane Bay Beach Bar?
Bernie
We spoke with a couple this afternoon that just had breakfast there. Omlet (2 eggs) with fruit (three kinds - one small slice of each), and mimosas for four people - $100. They said the clientele seemed to be mostly east enders.
That surprises me. We had dinner there Friday night. We all had very good sandwiches and fires for less than $60 including drinks and tips.
Should have been clearer. 3 beers and 2 teas, 4 sandwiches with fries.
Eat should be a welcome change at Cane Bay. I think Zach is trying to also take orders on the beach and stuff so you don't have to even go up to the bar...saw him walking the beach and he dropped my wife's burger off to us on Saturday at our beach chair when we were up there. This is a great idea for drinks etc.!
My wife's burger looked really good, she enjoyed it but it was cold by the time she got to eat it due to having to nurse the baby.
