No it's BS. Alana gets her panties all in a bunch at any comment OT puts out there. I don't always agree with OT and her posts can come across as Snarky, but remember you are reading something and when you read something you don't always get the intent of the post. That's why twitter and texts can be so easily misconstrued. The line that Alana decided was unfitting, was actually a compliment to the poster. I actually had to look up what the word meant, thanks for teaching me something new OT. But, most of the side bars with Alana and OT is because Alana must have the thinnest skin or poor reading comprehension. Now she will flame me, but I have said my peace and have been holding back for the last month as this has gone on way to long.

Sorry OT, I tried to delete my above post, but I wasn't allowed. To thinned skinned today and to quick to post a nasty retort I reckon. We all have our days, mine are quite often. I still love you OT and hope I didn't offend YOU.

To the OP, this thread just goes to show you that passions run deep about the Islands and I hope these replies crappy or good doesn't keep you from fulfilling your dream if only for a little while.

No worries, Mike! I'm not easily offended. Now I AM going to get snarky because an hour ago I hung out a load of wash under lovely sunny skies and they were almost dry when the heavens opened up for a downpour.

"Dear God, Thank you for the rain but the big cistern is full and my plants are all happy too. You're a lovely lady who apparently does a lot of good, but I'm snarkily annoyed right now although, now that I think about it, my wash will probably benefit from an additional big rinse. So thank you ..."

I really don't think naming Alana queen of the forum is appropriate. Maybe St. Alana... *snark snark*

Figures you'd chime in with your own brand of snarkiness.
Are we all done?
Can we get back on topic?
(Thanks speee1dy and CI.)

Well, let's see. I offered advice on the topic. You've offered nothing but bickering and sanctimony. I think you should probably heed your own advice before demanding others do. What say you Alana? Can he do it?

St Alana has decided it's time to move on, so I will. OP, please understand too that Health insurance is a nightmare here. The VI is circling the drain toward bankruptcy, the corruption, grifting and nepotism you will encounter here will shake you to your core. That said... these islands are filled with some of the warmest most sincere people I've ever come across. You CAN actually have a sense of community. It is beautiful. It never snows. Rum is cheap. It's all about perspective. We are happy here a d do not regret "doing it" in the least.

Nothing to see here - keep the traffic flowing -- nothing to see here -- keep moving -- nothing but a simple uninsured equine expiration here -- keep the line moving please.

Some of these threads could easily fill a page in the Sunday funnies and one would never guess where they came from. A good illustrator could make a fortune drawing the Alana and OT characters to go with it.:D

Rum is cheap.

Get it while it lasts. There's a new sin tax a commin'.

I keep hearing about all the horrendous corruption in the VI, here on the forum. Strangely, this is not a topic mentioned in the USVI Settler's Guide, ha ha. I'm very curious to know how the government's corruption is being experienced by VI residents. I know this is a big/complex topic, but if a few of you have time to even just very briefly comment on how the corruption personally affects you and your daily life (if it does) that would be helpful. I'm not wanting to over-react to this ugly fact of corruption, but nor do I want to under-react to it, in terms of deciding whether or not to relocate there. And if the VI is indeed going bankrupt, how do you think that will end up impacting your daily lives? Trying to figure out if it would or would not be misguided to relocate to a place where corruption is rampant and the economy is precarious ... then again, doesn't that describe the mainland too? Yes, I gather it's worse on the islands, from what I read here!... but I'm trying to get a sense of how much worse, and how that impacts quality of life there. :S

you know, just hypocrisy

If you meet me after work at the gas station and give me a little something I'll give you an answer. And I'll submit your paperwork today.

Total hypocrisy indeed when a poster goes out of the way to accuse another of being "snarky", rudely belittles the polite contradiction and clarification of the totally misinterpreted comment and then blithely apologizes to everyone but the person attacked. The hypocrisy has no bounds.
