Call from CDC
Has anyone received the call from CDC doing an immunization survey? If any has....doesn't it seem odd how personal the questions got....how many cell phones in the house.....names of all doctors or clinics in 5 years...full dob of all children....
sounds like a scam to me
Yearastam I don't know about the call you received, but the Centers for Disease Control is conducting a National Immunization Survey that targets children between 19 and 35 months. http://www.cdc.gov/nis. Did they ask about children in your home in that age group?
On the other hand, there is some evidence that criminals - or others - are using the survey for their own purposes. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4977300#4978600
In summary, if you feel uncomfortable, hang up. Don't give any information that you believe you should keep private.
This is a difficult situation. This kind of survey gives important statistical information and one should, if possible cooperate. Knowing who's out there is necessary when making funding decisions.
If this is a large survey, maybe there is a website that explains it. But if it feels weird, or the caller doesn's seem right, all you can do is hang ups.
Maybe you can ask for a callback number ?
They did ask about the kids in the house....just some of the questions were out there
You could probably answer the questions that will actually help, but the full date of birth of your children? That just isn't necessary. Just an age would be sufficient. I would be surprised that in today's world of identity theft if an organization like CDC would put you in that position. I wouldn't answer.
I don't understand the survey in the first place...kids can't get into school without being up to date on their shots....i ended up terminating the call about 8 minutes into it.
We got a call about 10 days ago from them.
"...how many cell phones in the house.....names of all doctors or clinics in 5 years...full dob of all children..."
Sounds like a phony survey to me as the number of cell phones in your home is irrelevant to the CDC.
Yearasya:
We do NOT answer any polls or surveys, for any reason, via the telephone.
There are too many scams going on......and you really don't know who is on the other end of the phone.
If the Government is doing a survey it will need to do so via U.S. mail. And you don't need to give them your address. If they have your name and telephone number they should have your address as well. If they're doing random telephone number calls....then..... it's a scam.
