BVI Customs Fee
Does anyone know the current BVI Customs Fee for a day trip to Jost (from STT)?
Five bucks? That's what I paid when I visited Tortola.
Ha!
It depends on if you take the ferry or are on a private boat, on a day charter, if it's on your own boat, etc.
Plus I believe you get to pay for any goods you buy in USVI and bring into BVI.
It also depends on what day of the week it is and whether it's a BVI holiday. And, as far as I can tell, it may also depend on whether the customs officer likes you or dislikes you. I have worked boat charters in the past, and it is different every single time.
Chartered boat out of STT.
I'm being told it's $40 per person. Is that correct?
Just take lots of $$ as fdr stated it is changable and depending on many circumstances.
Call BVI Customs and Immigrataions and see what they have to say.
If taking a ferry, call the ferry line.
Sounds about right. It is typically $30 on a normal day and $40 on a holiday or Sunday. Also, if you go to any of their national parks it goes up. For example it is an extra $18 per boat to go to the Indians/Caves. I went last weekend and we paid $30 per person. These numbers are only for a day charter out of STT. If you go on a private boat I think it is around $40 for the entire boat and all passengers.
Yes, since the recent fee increase, that sounds about right. In the last 5 years on private charters, I have paid everything from $7 to $35+. I'm certain a formula exists for calculating the appropriate charges, but I haven't met anyone who knows what it is! (I'm too afraid to ask at Customs, lest they charge me double the next time.....)
Paid $30 pp on private charter with VIlocity last summer. We went to the Indians, caves, Norman or Peter island.... The one with the "Deadmans" restaraunt on it. Beautiful water!!! LOVED the schools of creole wrasses at the Indians. Free diving through the lava tubes was saaweet too! Want to go back soon.
