Bummer: no boxes for premium cable. Satellite?
Hey All:
My cable box has been acting up for months, and finally died in October. I've been trying since then to get a new one from Innovative. No new boxes, they said then, they still say now, and no likelihood of any new boxes soon.
Maybe this is a good time to go to satellite tv.
--Can anybody comment on their experiences, and how long it took to get it going?
--Is it true that I will need two dishes for all the various channels (I caught this in one of the threads I read here in the archives)
--Can I bring my own satellite dish down from the states ?(I've got one from old dish network service up in the states, I bought the dish but later had to give up the service because the line of sight was eventually blocked by a neighbor's huge trees)
--Has anyone had luck with buying one's own cable descrambler? I'd LOVE to do this, and have heard of folks who have stateside but not here...
Best,
Ilo
I have Dish Network set up through Cal at Satellite Entertainment Services.
We only had the 4' dish for a few years but splurged last year on the additional 6' dish so we could get all the fun channels that are only available on the 110 satellite (yes, that rumor is true). Having both has also refused the level of rain fade; although we still lose some signal in heavy rains.
We also came down with ours but it was a 3' and didn't work.
Call Cal (7791588) and ask him what he can do for you in the most economical way possible. I think he also has a website that advertises specials
Also, if you are a fan of network tv I know there are some issues. I don't have any info on that.
Terrific--thanks, Onika. I'll get right on this; this is my favorite tv-watching time of year!
