Have you had sucess at buying building supplies on island? Or furniture? Does Home Depot. Sea chest actually stock what you need? Have you found any solutions?

I don't know about STT but on STX the Home Depot is so pathetically managed and under stocked that I stopped going there. Its so much less frustrating to just order online from HomeDepot.com. At least I know they'll ship what I ordered and not suck their teeth at me.

I remodeled our condo primarily buying from Home Depot on St Croix. Basically what you would find in stateside stores. Many items not in stock can be special ordered.

We shopped around for new furniture and beds. Ended up buying everything from Ashley Furniture. Good selection and fair prices.

Not much in the way of furniture in HD STX. Limited appliances as well. But we have several other furniture/appliance stores. Building supplies are hit and miss. You can check in-store inventory for most things at HD.com. It's usually pretty close but they often run out of some things and their inventory can be off by a few counts on the web site as well.

With everyone rebuilding after the hurricanes, you can't always find building materials that you want, when you want it.

Sea Chest is pretty well stocked.
HD up and down depending on what you're looking for.
Exterior doors have been hard to find, in my case.

Shipping times for orders are delayed or backlogged.
Home Depot often has no idea what's in their containers until they unload them, it seems.

You can find furniture but often more expensive than stateside.

Home Depot on STT is hit or miss because people from Tortola also shop on STT. Some contractor told me they were out of something he needed but can't remember what that was.

Windows and glass are in short supply both for homes and autos.

Sea Chest is much better than Home Depot because they provide much better service and have more control over their inventory. Their associates can check computer and let you know if items are on reorder and when to expect them. Home Depot has no control over their inventory and their signs aren't accurate. In fact, I think they're misleading.

As for furniture, most stores have limited supply on hand but will order for you and include your item in their trailer with their order and you pick up at their store maybe 6 months later.

Carlos Furniture, which also has a store on St Croix, warehouses some of their inventory on St Croix where space is cheaper and can get it to you in a week.

Many people (including vacation rentals) buy retired, refurnished hotel furniture from Ritz Carlton and Marriott from a guy named David Sweeney in Bovoni. Very good quality at ok prices.

One quality furniture store, Island Empire, is moving to a new location and is having a moving sale advertising 50% off.

Lots of options for villas, but very limited for moderate prices.

We have an Ashley Furniture dealer on STX. Is there a dealer on STT?

Most of the furniture stores on STT will order from Ashley for you and your selection will come with their next shipment. The Ashley store St Croix website didn't have what I was looking for specifically, but a possible second choice I found on St Thomas.

St Thomas also has a very popular consignment store, the ReUse Emporium, that sells gently used furniture and household items. It's located in Bovoni Plaza close to David Sweeney seller of retired hotel furniture.

.

Carlos Furniture is based on STX, where it started and where the owner lives.

Carlos Furniture opened a store on St Thomas a few years ago in Tutu Park Mall. They have furniture I'm interested in and told me it's in their St Croix warehouse and could be brought over on the barge.

I'm pretty sure most of the furniture stores here have the Ashley catalog and can order for you.

What is your timeframe? I will be leaving island and disposing of mostly new furniture from my three bedroom condo within the next two months. I am on St Thomas. Bought new at Silk Greenery, Island Empire and some good older pieces at Reuse.

You need to put this on a new thread. Changing the subject doesn't make a new thread, new subject doesn't even show on the main list.

Personally I couldn’t find anything here I liked. Ended up making my own or shipping it here from amazon, Wayfair, all modern etc. including a sofa.
