Broadband Internet and Innovative Cable
I am hearing several different stories from several different sources. Does anyone TRULY know what is going on with service on the west end of St. Croix?
We have had sketchy service at best fro Broadband for the past week, no service at all over the weekend now intermittent service.
Cable has been out since early yesterday and is still out.
Broadband VI's West End of STX is 100% up and running.
Have you called BBVI at 719-2943 ?
On on the North Shore and mine has been fine.
In Cane Bay (North Shore STX), no outages whatsoever for a few weeks now. Ever since BBVI came out and put a brand new antenna on my roof our internet has not gone out. When BBVI hooked me up 2 years ago they had put a "used antenna box" on the roof. Well it wore out & wasn't receiving any signal from the repeater located up hill in Estate Belvedere. So your outage Bratt, may be due to your antenna not working properly because a few weeks before my antenna went out completely I would have sporadic outages.

Sorry to inform all...BroadBAnd VI isn't fully working on the west end....it isn't working in part of Estate LIttle LaGrange.
It isn't an outage...it is a complete break down into no more service available...NO SERVICE NOW and quite possibly, none in the future.
They have, as they reported after 7 days, a non-operational transponder or repeater antenna on Cora Christiansens property...and cannot access it due to a couple of dogs on the property!
At least that is what I was told in the latest of excuses.
Initially they were blaming WAPA for the failure...guess they believe that since everybody already hates WAPA, they could just roll on with that little lie.
Guess the dogs want a piece of them too!
It only took a week plus for them to get a "correct story" to the consumers...then be both unwill and unable to facilitate any repair.
I was informed that we (as customers) are not a large liability with our"little monthly fee", and that dropping service to us, and probably a few others with the failure of the repeater station.. is really.no loss to BroadBand VI. This is what I could call 4 STAR Service!
They also do not have the ability nor the concern to go and see if they can find another site for the repeater antenna...but they said that I could do the hunt and find a place for them.
Their service tech came out...be it only a week after we were told he would be here...climbed onto the roof and said that he couldn't see any existing towers or systems that BBVI had transmitters on....I could have told him that over the phone...that is why we have the repeater station sending signal into the valley area!...He said that he couldn't fix the problem, but that maybe BBVI needed to bring in a trained technician from St Thomas to fix the repeater. He then asked to send an e-mail to the office seeking assistance...duh, we don't have any internet...send an e-mail, how about the phone???
Said that he couldn't phone since he always got a busy signal and didn't wish to keep trying...so much for priority service.
It seemed as though they didn't wish to inform any of their operational customers that their service needed outside assistance and help.
When I asked to speak to one of the owner/managers; I was informed that they were off island and probably would not want to speak to me any way!
And wanted to know why I wanted to speak to them...guess I just want to talk to somebody who could make a true decision.
It is amazing how soom they change customer service into customer servitude!
Broad Band VI supplies and charges for 24/7 internet, but can only service on a daylight basis most week days...guess they want to be part of the 1%.
Presently we are operational on Choice Communications...but they to have signal problems, and also no technical support.
Unless, of course you consider the outsourced persons stateside who answer their phone offering assistance! "Turn off your computer and let me reprogram your data entry on your computer"...really?
Innovative has offered their "bundled" packages, but unfortunately...their bundle falls one package short...they do not have any more internet capacity on the west end of the island, which may not be corrected until sometime in 2012!
How is that for good advertising...reel them in then release them back to no service available.
The Little Lagrange repeater was fixed two days ago.
We had great difficulty getting to it.....but it is now fixed.
We are looking to re-locate it so we don't have to deal with the issues noted below.
