Bringing our Cocker
Now knowing that we need to get our "old baby" down before the 15th and also knowing that our housing will not be available by then, can anyone recommend or let us know about kenneling for possibly a month. Thanks, Debra
Hello Debra,
Are you planning to send the dog down by itself, a month before you come?
Not sure but I thought the rule about air travel for pets only during certain months applied to those in cargo? Isn't your cocker spaniel small enough to go in a dog carrier as a carry on with you when you travel - or does the same rule about not allowing pets in hotter months still apply?

at American Airlines in the traveling with pets section the on-board pet carrier dimensions are 23"x13"x9" and the pet must be under 20lbs. I'm not sure but I think the cocker spaniel is bigger than this. after looking at their website now I have a question. Is the may 15th restriction a permanent thing or just for summer? Because it said that after the 15th they would no longer accept pets as cargo and they didn't specify a certain end date.
you can check it out here

According to the webpage I just read, AA is stopping animal as cargo ONLY on American Eagle flights to/from San Juan and St. Kitts. Further down the list they discuss the summer restriction generally, which runs from 5/15 to 9/15.
DEbra--Is there anyone on your end that would be willing to keep your dog until after the 15th of September? I think it would less traumatic for doggy to stay with a familiar family friend than get to a strange place and not be able to stay with anyone or anything he is familiar with. If you still want to kennel, Dr. Williamson and Imperial Canines & Critters both provide kenneling.
