Bringing a handgun to STX
They are a freedom that should never be taken for granted in this country. Just pay attention to your civil rights and liberties, watch them one by one, little by little erode. Lets all make a big stink about Swine flu, just to see what our Congress can get away with while they hold our attention with BS. Just remember Laws are created to protect the people,do you really think a criminal really cares if he breaks the law or not ? Accidents do from time to time happen but it takes a person to pull the trigger.
I will not quote Obama but I do agree with him saying there is a moral decay of society. I am not LEFT OR RIGHT,just somewhere in the middle, minding my own business and bringing harm to no one. I have no need or desire to fight anyone on any level at any time but I'll be DAMNED if I will ever be a victim. It is more of a mind set,it does not matter what weapon you choose. Many good people have been killed by a simple rock. You are a victim or you are not. The choice is yours. Don't confuse any of this with being the hero, most of them die.
Lets make everything illegal and let our Governments decide what we get and when we get it. Quit laying down and quit taking what ever they are giving. This is my God damned country as well, even though these times piss me off I am not sorry or repulsed by America, she is mine.
I am sorry about the rant guys, got a little off track but it all fits together.
and thats to bad Bombi. I think guns should be taken out of the islands not more brought in. But then on the other hand we have to protect ourselves like the wild wild west.
I know some back in the catcracker day that brought guns in but they had to be taken apart of course.
That was pre-9/11.
Why don't we all just use slingshots???
When the criminals all use only slingshots then MAYBE I'll consider it. The problem is the criminals will never play by any rules.
Contact The Gunsmithy at 340-513-2529. His name is Clayton Perry and he sells guns and ammo to most of the police. Fully sanctioned by the ATF....
He's bringing the gun to STX.
Is the Gunsmithy not on STX??
He is on STX now...used to live on STT, but moved last year to STX....also owns Namaste Cafe in Downtown Christiansted, 772-2529...
A few months after we moved into our house we were broken into, they pulled out all the drawers from the dresser, all the shoes, etc. from the corners of the closets, and must've spent a good while busting open an old locked briefcase I had siting on a shelf in my office. When the cops arrived they asked if owned a gun and said matter of factly that that was what they were looking for...made it seem kind of like a regular occurence for newcomers to the island. In the end they didn't take the laptop, desktop, tv, etc. just the Wii and all the games (except Wii Fit !) and half bottle of Chanel No. 9 my wife had in the bathroom (I guess they didn't like the smell of the full bottle of Calvin Klein sitting next to it). Long story short, though I am not against owning a gun, I certainly think it can make you an even greater target if certain people know you have one.
Rumor!!!! has it that the people who you have to register and report the gun to tell their family or friends who rip you off. ISLAND RUMOR!!!
wonder why they didnt take the wii fit
i am sorrt you were broken into
East End Doug said, "The thing about carrying a gun is are you ready to shoot someone. Most people are killed by their own gun. When you pull it out you need to use it."
Please clarify the part about, "Most people are killed by their own gun." This sounds incredible. In what situations is this, and what and where are the stats?
I'm neutral about guns, if that's possible. I'm just curious about the stats.
I didn't say it, but I thought it meant that if you are carrying a gun and not prepared to use it to defend yourself, your chances of being shot with that gun are great. I think he meant you have a greater change of being shot with your own gun than you do of shooting someone else.
Statistically speaking I've seen data that said people who didn't get formal training were more likely to be shot with ANY gun (theirs or a robbers) if they bring a gun to a situation. What I've NEVER seen is any data close to saying that on average if you bring a gun you're more likely to be killed with it. In fact the single 'objective' study done on the effectiveness of guns in the home had to comb through police reports to construct numbers that showed that for every instance of a homeowner being shot with their own weapon there were 5 (as I recall) of an assailant being run off by a gun wielding home owner.
This doesn't mean even a trained homeowner can't be shot with their own gun - just that is possible, not probable.
Me personally, I've got the training and I think of a gun as a Samurai sword - I wouldn't take it out unless I needed to use it. You don't pull out a gun to ward someone off -that get's you shot by them, their accomplice you didn't see, or even the police pulling up to the scene who don't know who is who but see you pointing a gun.
