Boat cleaning

Obviously the Virgin Islands are surrounded by water, where there is water there are boats, so therefore hulls need to be cleaned. Are there a lot of "for hire" hull cleaners or do most people take care of their boats themselves? My fiance and I are trying to get things together to make the move. I am hoping to put some of my experience as a commercial diver to use and this seems like it could be a good start. Any input anyone?
Thanks
Jason

Jason -

I have a sailboat at La Vida Marina at Independent Boat Yard, and they have a travel-lift that most folks use for haulouts and bottom jobs. I do know that there are some divers that will do bottom cleaning, but I've never use them.

Jason,
It goes both ways. The travel lift at Haulover and Independent are the only ones around. Die hard boaters dive on thier boat and clean the hull. Most of the charter boats haul out for season. You can also make a living diving for surveyors when they are doing an appraisal (survey) for insurance, sales, etc.
