BMV
Hi all, I've lost (can't find) my vehicle registration. Sticker is good through this month, but I'm sure I need it to renew... any tips on getting a quick replacement?
Just go into BMV and get paperwork for duplicate.
Call them first to see what information you need to bring in.
Doesn't your insurance company have a copy you can take to BMV?
On a related note, a longtime islander taught me awhile back to make a copy of my registration and keep that copy on me/with my vehicle instead of the actual registration. The original stays in a safe place at home, reducing the change of it being stolen or lost. The BMV will not renew your registration without either the original or an official duplicate that they provide.
Our BMV is not like the states, where you can renew online or they send you a paper copy of renewal documents by mail. There are no reminders, and you need the original every year.
Alana's advice is solid, and bringing along a copy from your insurance company may help speed up the process. Let us know how it goes, WestCoast.
There are always those who can smooth the way through the BMV for a fee. I had a vehicle that hadn't be properly registered for years and he was able to magically get everything including registration and new plates for a me in a day. Of course it required a bit of grease, but, it was well worth it.

How archaic. Like living in a time capsule. Wonder how much tax money we are saving by not investing in those newfangled computer thingies and mailing machines. If they sent reminders and did online renewal they'd have to buy a mailing machine. Or BMV could share with WAPA:D
I make copies of mine as well and keep it in my wallet. Nobody else is driving it.
efficiency and technology will never fly as government would rather have a bloated staff friends and family employed than efficiency.
