Alana,
Best to call them and see what they offer you. Or log into your account at dish.com/upgrades/blockbuster. http://www.mydish.com/upgrades/blockbuster/

Hey Al. I just ordered it from Dian and the agent said I didn't Ned an Internet connection. But the website says I do. And, of course, I don't have a net connected receiver and don't want to lose all my saved programs by switching receivers. Any ideas?

Rshoo,
You don't need a connection to get discs by mail but you will need a connected HD DVR to stream on TV. You could try streaming to a computer and hook it into the TV.

Dish will adjust for daylight savings time. The VI does not. Shows will be on an hour later in the winter. Most programs we watch are recorded on the DVR so we hardly notice.

hi Alan,
Thanks for the community support. does internet connection need to be hard wired, or are there receivers that pickup wifi?

HD receivers can be hardwired or wifi. For wifi you'll need the small usb adapter and a router in "reach". Wired is always best.

i have 3 disc at a time with blockbuster now for ~$15.99 per month. if I get blockbuster at home, does it replace my disc by mail plan? If so, how many movies can I watch per month? Not sure how this blockbuter at home plan works. thanks. Maybe movie selection is different for online plan vs by mail plan.

Not sure about that. A call to Dish might answer those questions since Dish purchased BB last year.

from blockbuster......

"The title selections that we offer for our subscriptions do not vary, whether it be for By Mail Only or Online accounts.

DISH Network offers streaming through www.dishonline.com. As an additional benefit, you can take advantage of the Blockbuster @ Home once you upgrade your current or new DISH services to include DISH Platinum Package. You can get 1 out unlimited By Mail rentals and unlimited Free instore exchanges for free.

To set up your Blockbuster @ Home, please log in first on your Dish account, go to "My Account," click "My Programing" and click the "Complete Registration" link. Once you have completed the registration for your new Dish Platinum package, you will be taken to the Blockbuster @ Home page to set up and manage your Queue.

If you use the same email address as your existing Blockbuster account, the plan on the existing account will be automatically changed to the Blockbuster @ Home plan of your choice. If you use a different email address, you will be prompted to create a brand new account and you would have to cancel the existing Blockbuster account.
In any case that you prefer to receive 2 out at a time Unlimited By Mail rentals and Unlimited Free instore exchanges, then you can have it for only $5 on top of your bill. For 3 out Unlimited By Mail rentals and Unlimited Free instore exchanges, then you can have it for only $10 on top of your bill.

You can visit www.blockbusterathome.com to check all the titles available for rental and for further information, please contact the Dish Network Customer Service at 1-800-333-3474.

The sign up process takes LOTS of patience but it worked. I don't have a connected Dish box so I can't speak about how that works. But streaming to my PC (even with the higher speed BBVI) service just didn't work. It took three hours to get half of a movie with many minute waits between few minute streams. I was getting about 3Mbs at the time.
