Birthday dinner recommendation on STX
My son and I would like to take my husband out for a nice birthday dinner. We don't eat out much so I have no clue were to take him. Hubby and I like steak and seafood. Our son mostly only eats mahi and tuna.
Thanks,
Tammy
Galangal is always good. They have Tuna Tataki and Steak and Seafood.
Thanks rotor.
Zion Modern Kitchen is awesome too! Maybe call ahead to find out whether they have mani or tuna for the day. Here is their menu. I like that you can select your sides, and the courtyard is lovely. If you want to avoid mosquito bites, ask to sit inside.
I was going to suggest Galangal and am going there myself tonight. But, their food is more Thai fusion. I'd give the Galleon a try if you haven't been for a while. They always have great steak and usually a nice mahi or wahoo special.
You can't beat Duggan's Reef for steaks and seafood, fresh fish or no fish!
Happy Birthday
The Waves at Cane Bay is very good and is such a beautiful setting.
my birthday is this weekend and i am going to duggans reef, i need his beet salad.
Duggans Reef is our go to spot for celebration dinners
What about 40 Strand? I thought it was a good meal with variety and a cozy setting.
If you go to 40 Strand i HIGHLY recommend the lobster mac and cheese.

I'll have your share................ STXSailor......... I love a good mac n cheese, and that sounds fantastic!
Here's a place near us with about 16 different types of Mac and cheese. It's pretty good, maybe need to open a restaurant in STX that specializes in M&C. 😀

Zion
Galangal
My faves.
Waves at cane is good too but we almost always end up at Zion. Call ahead for a lobster lol.
I haven't been to Baltre but heard it's better than Zion...
Been down sick from traveling stateside but managed to get out and go to the new Best - cocktail place opened by Frank from Zion. I couldn't really taste my drinks but my friend said the drinks were fab so no matter what you should end up there for a night cap.
Again, thank you all for your recommendations. We ended up at Galleon. Our food and service was excellent. We ordered calamari as an appetizer along with the fresh bread and butter. My husband had the special blackened New York strip with mashed sweet potatoes and asparagus. Our son had the Mahi with a lemon butter dill sauce, mashed potatoes and asparagus. I had the prosciutto wrapped chicken breast with a divine sauce that I have forgotten the name of, with mushroom bacon mashed potatoes and asparagus. Our dessert was on the house. Cheese cake with strawberries and and a huge fudge brownie with hot fudge and vanilla ice cream.
We were all very happy with our food and tasted each others food. It was all excellent. Our service was the best we have received anyone on the island. Our servers anticipated all our needs and we never had to wait for a drink or water refill.
All in all a very wonderful birthday dinner.
I appreciate all the recommendations and plan to try all the restaurants that you all recommended.
Thanks again.
Tammy
