Biking
Any mountain biking or biking in general on the island(s)? Any single track? Please let me know. I would love to bring my bike but am curious if it is worth it. Thanks mucho! Lis
I only have a road bike on STX so I don't have any first hand experience mountain biking in the VI.
Supposedly there are some interesting trails in the rain forest on STX. Also some of the roads/ jeep trails are a possibilities. Don't know about the options on the other islands.
However, there is also a MTB tour on Water Island, but I don't think it is that technical. They aim their pitch at tourists.
Road biking on STX is possible, but a lot of work. Fair number of cyclists on STX because it isn't as rugged as the other islands.
Lots of danger and difficulty riding on the roads; the roads are hilly, narrow, no shoulders, blind curves, vegitation hangs over the pavements, and many large pot holes. To make it even more exciting you have lots of people on the road not used to driving on the left side.
Bring your bike but be careful.

I could be talked and coerced into pedaling a bie on STX, but not on STT or STJ. Here on STT there are ony two die-hard physical training guys that I see riding bikes up the hills. The rest of the bikes are only used on flat land...that I have seen, anyway. I don't think it would be worth bringing unless you really plan on riding it alot.
In the National Park, biking is verboten.
Can you believe that I actually had to look that word up? Haha! EE, you've got a prestigious vernacular! Haha!
Thanks everyone who answered. Guess I will not be brining my bike. Don't want to be smashed like a bug! Appreciate all your input. Lis
