Bicycles in STX-good idea/bad idea
Hello,
I will be moving to STX very soon and have been thinking about bringing a mountain bike to STX as my primary mode of transportation.
Is this feasible and/or is this not realistic?
Thank you for your comments.
It can be done, it has been done, but it's quite dangerous. Driving on the left gives drivers shortened sightlines, no shoulders means vegitation is in your face and further shortens visibility, and the condition of the roads is...well...lunar.
I moved here in October and was planning on using a bike to get around. I bought one but honestly it's not really feasible. Unless you are a seasoned rider who is comfortable riding in the road and on the lefthand side, I wouldn't suggest it. I do see people on bikes but on main roads conditions aren't great. Plus it's pretty hilly and windy which makes it hard for drivers to see you. Again, if you're really confident on a bike & on country-type roads, you could make it work, but using a car to get around is 1000x easier.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out!
