I remember a friend once asked me. "where is the best burger place on island at?" I corrected him about ending a sentence with a preposition and he came back with "where is the best burger place on the island at asshole?" I never corrected anyone again.
Glad I don't have friends like that. The people I know appreciate getting corrected by their friends instead of making a fool of themselves in front of colleagues or bosses.
I would want someone to correct me, too. How else do you learn?
Good Grief!
I guess no one that is posting this BS has ever once made a grammatical error.
It's like a FRIGGING dog with a bone.
Maybe you should start a new thread on grammatical correctness and get off the posters original intent in asking a simplistic question.
I'm sure no one here has ever asked "where's it at?"

Ha!
I make spelling errors, grammatical errors and it doesn't make me an bad person it makes me human.....
Somebody needed to say it.
No, they didn't.
Those of you now posting are not hoping to be teachers in VI. I don't think anybody on this forum has ever critiqued a grammatically incorrect post from a casual post. Imo, teachers looking for employment should be held to a higher standard than someone looking to retire here or someone hoping to be a bartender or waitress.
Forgive me for having standards.

I think a lot of people missed the point of your first post completely.
Another thread hijacked 🙁
If you go through ms411's post, i found plenty of errors and my English is horrible at best and idgaf. The criticism over grammatical errors doesn't belong here on this forum. Get over yourself. We are all human except for the grammar nazi. Who makes you the one to judge who gets held to a higher standard. Again get over yourself and enjoy life. It really won't make a difference in your life in the long run anyways.
Oops forgot a comma, but idc, move on, nothing to see here.

It's not your job to "critique a grammatically incorrect post". The poster wasn't applying to or through you for a teaching position. And what total BS to say that a bartender or waitress doesn't have to have as high a standard as a teacher where grammaticaL correctness is concerned. Maybe your drinking and dining standards aren't exactly haute if that's your opinion. If nobody else has ever called out a poster on grammar it's because nobody else would be so damned rude. Your excuse for grammatical glitches is always the android spellcheck.
I am not hoping to teach in the VI.
I welcome all corrections to any of my posts so I can learn from my mistakes.
Think you just got them.
Attitude adjustment required and an apology to the poster for the nonsensical drivel.
I see no reason to apologize for disuading an uncompetitive teaching candidate (compared to more literate posts by recent teacher posters/applicants) to apply when their inquiry post was not at the literacy level of other teaching candidates posts in another thread.
It costs the VI government to review and vet every applicant.
Just trying to save VI government a few $$.
Now I know why so damn many students cannot pass a basic written essay.
1, I see no reason to apologize for disuading ...
2, Just trying to save VI government a few $$.
1. Spellcheck.
2. Your nobility is awe-inspiring.
3, Just wrap it. Remember what Shakespeare said about the lady protesting.
Why does the VI attract such filth?
Alana33, thank you for your helpful post.
You're more than welcome.
Go for it.
What are you leaning to?
(Ha!)
Oops! is that proper, grammatically speaking?
Yes.. I know that I can use "towards."
Or can I?

The OP can derive from this discussion that teaching positions on St. Thomas might offer more suitable teaching positions with a lower standard of performance and a robust defense of mediocrity. This discussion explains a lot, really.

The OP might also glean from this "discussion" that the majority of the respondents have virtually no first hand knowledge of the teaching system here and have had little or no interaction with students or teachers. In that respect I agree that the "discussion" explains a lot.

Alana33, well....I haven't yet developed a preference for a particular island, but regarding grade/subject, most likely middle school science!
Teachers are always needed.
Good luck to you.

What OP? You guys got trolled and fell for it. MS411 caught it right away and then you all turned it into a pissing match.
