Best beaches to run Business
My wife and I are looking to move to St Thomas for 6-8 months this fall. We are planning to run a fly board business(jet pack attached to feet powered by jet ski). we will only be using one jet ski and one fly board. I need some advice on which beaches would be most convenient and practical for our future endeavor.

Best to check with licensing and consumer affairs and dpnr to see what's involved with getting a business license and where such activities are permitted.
Planning to move here for 6 months and start a business? Maybe call it Fly-by-night Flyboards?
Between obtaining a business license and liability insurance, then finding a beach where this activity would be allowed, you will probably find that your 6 months are over without a single ride. 😉 There is, or was, a flyboard operation at Lindbergh Bay.
340 water sports an established jet ski rental provider was rejected for the jet pack version of what the OP is suggesting.
There is one of these jet pack boot operations at Island Beachcomber in STT.

Too funny.
Maybe it was the Bolongo location:S
kasey: You might want to consider coming down for the winter and working in the industry to find out for yourself the ups and downs of owning a business in the VI.

The obvious and sensible thing to do. If the OP is indeed only coming here "for 6-8 months" and expects that in that very brief period he can not only find a location for his business but get a business license to operate it, then he's in lala land. Doubt he's figured insurance into the mix either.
Think they wished to find a beach to set up on, sans business license, insurance, paying taxes, gross receipts, etc. since they'd only be bringing only 1 jet ski and 1 flyboard.
Fly by night flyboard, indeed.
If that is indeed their thought, they'd best be aware that's not going to happen on any of our beaches without someone reporting them and them being subjected to fines by DPNR and DLCA.
I'd pick Neltjeberg next to campground or by Ahi beach bar next to pirate ship..
Ahi is being subjected to DPNR scrutiny and possible fines by over building what they were originally permitted. Plus interfering with nesting sea turtles.
As for Neltjeberg, the minute they fired up the jet ski and have the noise from it reverberating up the mountainside, people living above the beach would be calling DPNR to investigate.
I would probably hear it and I'm above the next bay over.
Those things are loud and not something one would wish to listen to, all day, any day.

In order to cater to hotel guests - give talks and advertise there - you need 1 million in insurance. Thats a dive operation but Id assume the risks are the same.. maybe more? Broken necks? Yikes.

I was being sarcastic. Trying to stir pot.
"I was being sarcastic. Trying to stir pot."
What is the advantage in that to the OP??
What advantage has any of the comments been? "Fly by night" etc. there has been many sarcastic comments on this thread. I'll eagerly await your posts calling out those as well.
What advantage has any of the comments been?
The OP has been given all the information he needs to get going with his plan - or not - with obviously comments being made in an effort to show him what a waste of time it is. I would say the comments are to his advantage. Since he's not returned to his thread in 6 days now, they may have saved him a lot of money and effort.
I'll blame my crap back and the Valium for my snarkiness
