Works better when connecting to the right WIFI. Was still set to automatically connect to the condo downstairs from when we stayed there for PMV. 4.40Mbps download, 1.80 Upload just now.
What's the difference between level 3 communications and BBVI in the ISP line? Also, these higher speeds reflect the $100/mo plan or another ISP?
Got it.
The $99 plan is described as AT LEAST 5 MBPS UP TO 30 MBPS.
A lot of us have the $49.95 plan, which is described as UP TO 2 MBPS.
Mine's the $50. one. But what's the difference in level 3 communications *** vs BBVI (or whatever) in the speedtest readout for the 'ISP' line in the bottom left corner.
Damn those trees! I'm headed to Home Depot tomorrow for a chain saw, Gull Dernit! Or is it climate change? Maybe 'The Donald' had a hand in it somehow. Conspiracies!
…And ze shrink sez: "Zo, how does zis new information make you feel about yourself?"
Could this be why they moved from Gallows Bay to a secret location?
Now, let's not see the same hands all the time...

That secret location right out there on the main road?
still hoping for another speed increase. Lets get onto VINGN. really wished they ran fiber to the tower sites?
Slow again in the middle of my netflix…
Can anyone recommend a short term (reliable) connection here on the island so as to eliminate BBVI from the mix?
It's sad that a once fine service has devolved into such poor service as to elicit comments like these that will probably result in the cancellation of unhappy customers…
You had your time in the sun, Mr. 'B' and you blew it. Why?
As you may know, bad news travels much faster than good news.

THERE IS A TREE IN THE WAY OF YOUR SHOT TO THE TOWER!!!!
WHAT PART OF THE LAWS OF PHYSICS DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND???
WE'VE TOLD YOU 3 TIMES, BEEN THERE, THE TREE HAS TO GO TO GET YOU SERVICE.

Always nice to hear from you. Have a nice day.
Tech came out and said trees too tall or pole too short. Said trees and longer pole my job, not theirs...
Nova,
If a plumber told you your drains were plugged due to roots growing into the line would you get the roots out, or complain on a message board about the plumber?
I talk to people every day about TV , phone, and internet options. The vast majority are very happy with BBVI.
I must agree with STL.
Cut the tree tops in the way, buy a taller pole or find a new service that won't require either of those but move on and quit whining and complaining.
Good luck.

Say it's not so!!!!! Not in the middle of your Netflix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know about reliability but, If you have no way of getting line of sight for BBVI, your options would be Innovative, Choice (If there is signal to your area), or Cellular data plan. One of the most reliable internet connections can be via satellite. However the downsides to satellite are latency, expensive, data cap limits etc......Reliable they are, the best option currently on STX no.
I find it interesting that from the beginning of this thread you indicated that the tech told you about the line of sight issue and even offered to install the pole. Instead of resolving that issue you chose to post your speeds for over a month and bash them. How does a tree blocking your signal become this?

So by this reasoning Dish, and DirecTV would become "a once fine service that has devolved" if a tree grew in it's path.
Have you tried a longer pole? I had to relocate my radio to obtain this result after trees had blocked the original spot it had been mounted.
Just now, 21 down and 2 up with BBVI $99 plan.
Understand that a tree PARTIALLY blocking signal will give you the symptoms you describe. If it's looking through a few leaves, it can possibly penetrate, as the foliage moves with the wind the signal varies. Moisture on the leaves, rain in the distance, and other factors are to be considered. With all the rain we've been having I'm sure the tree is happy and flourishing. Why would a tech blame a tree if he could see line of site? He wouldn't.
I went from full service to nothing ( for two days). I guess the tree grew so much over night that my service was completely blocked.

Yours sounds like a different issue. Who told you it was a tree if you have line of site to 2 transmitters and they recently swapped you and repointed?
I'll add that I have seen a tree make a difference in one day. Usually palm trees. Just sayin...
I was re-pointed after they said the tree was blocking the signal.

I would call again and get an appointment.
Service ends on Friday....
Gotcha
Keep us posted. Good luck.
