2016 Bandwidth Upgrades
Dear Broadband VI Customer,
We have some good news about a big upgrade to share with you. Broadband VI has found our technology platform of the future and is going to be working overtime to get you faster speeds and higher reliability. We may be changing your equipment (at no cost to you) and we are climbing every tower, but it will be worth it.
In 2016:
We will be changing equipment for all Residential Plus and Small Business Silver, Gold and Platinum customers.
We will be increasing speeds for everyone:
Residential Basic from 2M upgraded to 5M down / 1M up
Residential Plus from 5M upgraded to 25M down / 5M up
Business Silver from 2M upgraded to 10M down / 2M up
Business Gold from 5M upgraded to 15M down / 4M up
Business Platinum from 10M upgraded to 25M down / 5M up
We appreciate your loyalty and patience as we have searched far and wide for the best system to make your Internet experience even faster and better than it has been. The new technology is faster, more reliable, and the equipment has a 40 year mean time between failure, so we hope to see less of you after your upgrade.

Could someone please tell me why I would want a "business" account when a residential plus has better speeds with the exception of the platinum package? :S

I'm delighted with my BBVI upgrade! We went from 5 down to over 25 down recently at no additional charge.
Another reason why I'd never switch to Innovative.

I'm wondering if they capped the plus speed. They were advertising "check your speeds! people are seing 10, 20 even 30 Mb!". I was seeing 12-20 pretty much all the time. Now it zips to 5 and stops.
And by stops i mean almost no variation. When i was getting higher speeds there was lots.

I'm not talking about the upgrades.
I'm talking about the ads saying "Check your speeds! Customers are getting10, 20, even 30 Mb! And we were. 12-20 consistently.
Now its capped.

Speeds are consist to 5MB now. Hoping that most of us would not have to change the radio. Already missing the burst to 20MB. Hopeful to see 25 mb on January 1st 2016

Is anyone with the plus plan "Speeds of at least 5Mbps down (2Mbps upload) " getting more than 5 Mb down anymore? Curious if I should call and ask what changed.

I was under the impression bbVI was testing new equipment and that was why some of us were seeing speeds greater than 5MBPS? And once the new equipment didn't do what they wanted and was removed, speeds went back to normal until the new stuff goes online early this year?

When people talk about thier speeds, you should add what your plan is or what it costs. Telling us your speed means nothing when there is nothing to compare it against.

And where you are getting those speeds would be helpful. I'm out on the east end of STX and my BBVI has been slow and erratic. It may because the system is taxed having the Reef Condos (100 units) and villa Madeline just about full. If it continues I'll call BBVI after the New Year and have things checked out. My speed averaged about 1MB up and .75 up following the speed test instructions on the BBVI web site. I have had the 49.95 plan for the past 6-7 years. Out east we are usually the last to get any upgrades on anything.

I am on the plus plan. I get 5 down and 2 up.
I guess all plus plan subscribers are not the same.
Innovative is coming in 2 weeks to install EVO. For the same price they promise 25 down and 5 up. I will be running both for a couple of months and let you know how they compare.
