That's what I read on Angry Nates and St Croix Lime Facebook pages. No additional info, except the place "burned to the ground."

One less place to be robbed at gunpoint while eating. i am sure they are gathering loads of evidence at the crime scene.
Sucks for sure. Bottom line they will never be caught. Like so many others.

http://stcroixsource.com/content/news/local-news/2012/01/20/fire-destroys-westside-restaurant

There was no robbery as the place was closed when the fire was apparently first spotted in the very early hours of the morning. A generator apparently was missing.

The generator worked at Hovensa. It left island all on its own. So it was not thieved.
Time for all of the good people there to say enough is enough. Crime is just going to increase with increased unempolyment. Fact.
Cops are a waste of money which the gov't has very little of because the politicians steal whatever they can.

Yes the good old electrical fire easier to bame it on that then try to do an investigation. Truth and justice the crucian way.

Umm.. That's not what the article you posted says. "No robbery?"

Sounds like someone got scared and desperate to me. Appears "someone" knew where his economy was going and whipped up a nice batch of good old fashion "insurance fraud" if not this is the "luckiest" and such a coincidence of "great timing". What? Some of you thought of this already.

I know of a very small city where most of the Main St. businesses burned down within a short period of time.
All got a nice payout for retirement or to invest into a new business.
That was one of the first things I thought of -"insurance fraud".
It happens everywhere.

It never even crossed my mind and I doubt very much that it crossed the mind of anyone who lives here. I don't even know the owners of the BBC but understand that it was only quite recently that they took over that spot and were working very hard and garnering good reviews. Frankly it strikes me as a very unpleasant comment to make, particularly from someone off island.

To put it plainly, Off on and anywhere in the world human nature is the same. I knew a guy in Boston who did that exact thing, Ohhh, he was a nice fellow always gave to the community. Held Christmas dinners for a few misfortunate every year. Big giver for the "toys for tots" Neighborhood went to crap and he did what he did.
Frankly it surprises me that someone would think they live in a "bubble" that is nothing like the rest of the world. A wonderful place where deception, and sheer desperation does not exist. I can't wait to move there. Must have changed sooooo much from when I did years ago.
Cheers.
