Been looking for an island car recently. I found a 1996 Nissan Maxima I thought looked pretty good. When I located a mechanic to do the check-over, he warned me of a guy named Barry (who also rents cars to nurses) who recently sold his friend a lemon.
The guy who owns the Maxima IS named Barry (and he is currently off-island but is selling 3 cars out of the Midas shop by Tutu Mall). I'm not sure if he is the same Barry I was warned about.
Does anyone know about this guy? Thanks for your help.

I believe that Barry out of the Midas shop is one and the same that a previous customer warned about. Caveat emptor...

How did you find the Nissan Maxima? I see suspicious looking ads on Craigslist and in the Daily News.

Sounds shady...I'd avoid. Besides a 1996 is now almost 15 years old. That's a lot of years of bad roads, salty water etc. I'm not sure what your budget is but you can definitely go "too cheap" on a car and pay more in the long run.
