Barber Shops on STX
Hello again! I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for barbers on STX? Thanks!
First, see one the day before you leave.
I have no luck with barber shops----more than one time. Few times, happy the first time, not the second----tried a third, still not happy . And it was not for lack of barber trying and explaining what I wanted.
Although would good initial, after 5-7 days, I can tell I am not going to get 3-4 weeks out of the haircut, its 2-3 weeks. When I get 3-4 weeks, every seems to grow evenly.
Just me, I went to the same barber since I was 14 years old, so I might have been spoiled. But due try to plan visits to homestate, to include going to same barber.
go to the barber shop behind the post office in christiansted
3 barbers in there but go to the younger crucian guy, usually a wait to get in his chair but the other 2 older dominican guys dont care u waiting for him, 2pm - 4pm is a good time
trust me on this...
Hello again! I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for barbers on STX? Thanks!
After going to a number of high priced salons around the island, I now go to Karen at Jacques Image Studio downtown.
She does a great job, easy to get an appointment and for $20 your in and out!
After unsuccessfully trying to get my hair cut at the salon in Frederecksted that my friend's wife goes to, my friend's cousin who has the food truck across form the fort in F'sted. recommended the barber shop on Center Line just east of Armstrong's Ice Cream. Well, I'll try most anything once, so I walk in and greet everyone per local custom. Inside I find four Rasta's. One turns out to be a LARGE woman cutting hair. I ask if anyone would be willing to cut my hair (white guy). The youngest, and I figure the most junior member of the group says,"Sure" so I hop in his chair.
Now, this is the first time I've been in a "black" barber shop so I sit quietly and observe. Many Rastas come and go while I'm in the chair. They just have their beards trimmed. I'm a little concerned because ail the while I'm facing away from the mirror so I can't see what's being done. I note that my barber is using the electric clippers alot as apposed to a white barber who would use scissors more.
After a while the other barbers start razzing my guy for taking so long. That's when I had to speak up and firmly but politely told those guy's to leave my man alone. "You can't rush an artist."
Also during this time I discover that the charge is $15 and everyone seems to have $20's and the barbers are scrambling for change.
When it was all done the cut was pretty good. Just as I had asked for. Trim the sides and not too much off the top. I handed the young barber a $20 and said the $5 was for him. You should have seen the faces of the other three.
Last year I went back. Totally different Spanish crew. Still no problem.
I have Debbie at Under the Palms across from Gallows Bay Hardware cut mine. She also does my wife's hair.
Little more than a barber shop but I love the way it comes out.
Elano's (spelling?) just east of basin triangle opposite the convenience store.
Walk in, no appointment, no fuss. Good cut at reasonable price.
Do you know the street name?
Near Poolworks?
Elano's is across the street from Jiffy Mart in Christiansted I believe.
I would go to Indulgence, it's by Johny Mangos in Sunny Isle.
Eleno cut my hair for a number of years. Did a good job.
Elenos is where I always go.
Eleno cuts my husband's hair and he is very particular. Eleno does a great job!
Eleno formerly worked with his brother Mon at Mon's on Prince Street. Mon died and Eleno moved over to his own shop.
Best and most reliable haircut on STX.

That would be Robohead ! Barbers come and go but my robocut keeps on working! 😉
Can anyone provide another landmark to elenos besides a mini mart? Tx.
Eleno's.
Heading east from Pueblo toward Christiansted. Pass Richmond post office on left. Come to light at Bassin Triangle (police station on right). Stay in center lane and continue straight toward downtown Christiansted. Jiffy Mart is on left hand side. Stop car. Look opposite for Eleno's sign. You can park behind the building using the alley way east of the building. Place vehicle in park, or neutral if manual transmission, and apply parking brake. Turn off motor. Exit vehicle, but only after removing seat belt. Lock vehicle, or not. (Optional - leave all valuables easily accessible in the glove box). Enter Eleno's via front or rear doorway.....
Thanks. A little snarky, but I'll take it. New to the island so this is very helpful. Thank you.

Nice and detailed I'd say 😉
he forgot to mention breathing, I'm pretty sure none of that matters if you don't take a breath or two.

Just a little welcome from the 'Club Snarky' founder and self-elected president for life. 😎
What's the difference between snarky and snotty? Is snarky funnier?
My husband and i both used to go to under the palms...again, not a barber, more of a salon.
