I have been trying to read up on banks on STJ and have been getting different answers every where i look. I know there is a FirstBank (that has no affiliation with the mainland, right?) What are the other banks (if any) and are there any affiliated w/ the mainland?

i'm kinda new down here. i only know of two banks. FirstBank, which is a subsidiary of First Bank of Puerto Rico. as far as I know, they are only located in PR & the VI. then there is Scotia Bank, which has its main headquarters in Canada. i THINK they have branches in the US, but I'm not sure. oh, and there are Banco Populars down here, but I don't think they are on St John. i've seen them on St Thomas. someone else would definitely know more...

Banco Popular has several locations on St. Thomas, none on St. John. http://bancopopular.com/pr/personal/per-home-en.jsp
Banco Popular is located in a few states. But I don't know the level of affiliation between BP of North American and BP of Puerto Rico, if there is any.
