Bad Cruzan Rum
When I lived in Ohio, every bottle of Cruzan Rum I bought was fantastic. I've lived on St. Croix for two and a half months, and two bottles I've had here were awful. I mean, really substandard. They were both two-year, one light and one dark. They were definitely fully sealed at the factory and not tampered with.
Can anyone explain the yucky taste?
I would go and bring them back. Who knows what happen. I am sure they will replace them. I never had a bad bottle either. I love to use it for my baking 😉
Some of their botteling is done in Florida and some on STX.

I love Cruzan Rum and drink about %# bottles a month. I have never had a bad bottle.
Cruzan is now being exported to the states by a Palm Beach Florida company.
I don't know of any changes except labeling...but then what do I know..nothing...
Let's check this out
Maybe your taste has changed? Your not on vacation any more......
FOG: I think when you drink two bottles of Cruzan, you are going to feel "yucky"! 😉
I have bought 5 bottles here in tx and they all say distilled in STX and imported by a company out of florida and it has all been better than any other brand I have ever drank and rum is the only drink for me and has been for over 50 years. I know that it is posible to get a bad bottle once in a while so your luck must have been real bad this time to get 2 bad ones

I had a horrible rum experience when I was 16 and swore off rum forever.......that is until I had Cruzan Rum this past October while on my honeymoon! Now I can't wait to have a frosty rum cocktail when I arrive in 2 weeks!! I thought it was delicious! But what do I know about rum......
WOO-HOO!!
East Ender, if I had drank both bottles at the same time, I wouldn't have been around to ask the question! They were consumed about a month apart.
I know those bottles were off, because I always drink the rum only with a lot of ice so as not to alter the flavor much. (No, the ice wasn't bad.) If I had had cocktails, I may not have detected the bad taste.
The only thing I can think of, and I hate to say it, is that occasionally a batch may be bad. Rather than dumping it, they bottle it and keep it on island. Or maybe the taster at the distillery had had too much the night before.
oh a rum ticky tum tum rum mystery!
Or for some reaon a barrel was bad. If you ever take the tour you will find out they buy used barrels. That in the end determines flavor. Just as in cooking variences can change the test. I still would call or write them about it. If you still have the empty bottle you also will of a lot number on that and they can take the rest out off circulation.

The Rum Bum
(by henry gibson, the third)
My day is sad, my day is glum.
My day has been ruined by the Rum Bum.
The folks at Cruzan are known for their rum.
I’ve been drinking it for years, without being glum.
The sunsets are better, the bugs ain’t so bad.
The sand in my swimsuit doesn’t make me mad.
Cause my Cruzan over ice makes all that seem small,
and by the fourth or fifth glass, I’ve forgotten it all!
But then something happened to spoil my fun.
Some rotten bum got into my rum!
I know it’s a bum, and here’s how come...
The rum bum broke in while I slept off the last
of the previous bottle, from which I got gassed.
He must have taken the good stuff and replaced it with bad.
I know it was a ‘he’ since a ‘she’ wouldn’t act so rad.
Or was it that worker from Cruzan who was miffed
over not being promoted, so he got really piffed (off)?
“I’ve worked and I’ve toiled,” was the rum bum’s lament.
“They’re not screwing me! I’ll make them repent!
I’ll snatch a few bottles that whiz by my post
and add something to them! Oh, won’t that be the most!
They’re rep will be ruined, they’re sales will succumb
to the Rum Bum of Cruzan who spoiled their fun!”
I don’t know, but if I were you I’d switch to Corona.
Then you could get gassed with some girl named Ramona.
The end.
