auto windshield

Well, on my way by pueblo, some idiot decided to throw a brick at my car passing by. Luckily my pregnant wife, or myself, were not injured. However, there was glass shattered everywhere. Idk why someone would pick out innocent bystanders and destroy their property that they have worked hard for. Probably some punk a$! Kid or somebody that doesn't hold a job.

With all the venting out of the way, does anyone know a reputable/cheap place that replaces auto windshield? Any info would be appreciated.

Glass 2000 (by Five Corners)
They will order the piece, and put it in for you. They've done a pretty good job on our cars.

I can't think of the name of the place, but there is a place near Sunny Isle, right across the street from the "annex" where WAPA and Sears are located. I do NOT recommend them. When I picked up my Jeep, there was glass on the seats and floor, and the rubber gasket around the window was cut and not put in well. I had assumed it would get a new gasket. No...they just put the old one back, but after it's been out, it doesn't get it's shape back too well. I told him I didn't like that, and he said he would order a new gasket. I would have to pay for the gasket, but he wouldn't charge me for the labor. OK...So I went online and found the gasket for peanuts. I don't recall, but something like $10.00. He charged me $65.00!!! When I reminded him he wasn't going to charge for labor, and that I knew how little the gasket cost, he got very defensive and said he had to make money somewhere. I consider that dishonest. Also, my antenna was missing. Still looking for a Jeep antenna.

Juanita,
That place is called Neighborhood Auto I think. They replaced a windshield on my van and did an ok job. Just ok because it didn't leak but they didn't clean off the excess sealant that oozed out. Price seemed reasonable and I needed it now. That was about 4 yrs ago.

While I have never used them for auto glass, I have bought a bunch of windows for the hotel from Glass 2000. They are good people to do business with.

I recommend Glass 2000 and do NOT recommend Neighborhood either. They replaced my husbands windshield and it cracked a couple of days later when he hit a pothole. The crack was right at the base so it was clearly improperly installed - they said there was nothing they could do but they'd be happy to sell him a new one. We went to Glass 2000 and were very happy with them.

Don't know about modern windshields(I haven't replaced one myself in over 20 years).
But, when I did, there were rubber blocks you replaced under where the windshield was installed.
Where these rubber blocks were, there is metal shelves that hold them, perhaps this is what the windshield hit when it settled(& the rubber blocks were left out).

I've said it before, local workmanship borders retarded! <<(and got alot of $hit for saying it, my opinion still stands!)
Perhaps they were unaware gravity is still working??

I had no idea Glass 2000 would do windshield glass. Should have asked! We really like them, and particularly Mr. Torres, who does the screens for them.

Castle Glass Works (Ray & Liz Smith) in Estate Castle Coakley also do automobile & truck windows. They do excellent work. They replaced a rear end gate window a couple years ago on my wife's 1999 Subaru and did a superb job. Phone # is 340-773-2484
