We are going to buy a new vechile to bring down. Trying to decide which make is best. What dealers are located on St. Thomas? We are undecided between a GMC or a toyota. Can you tell me which one has a dealer on the island if we need repairs or parts? Thanks so much!

You can go to the yellow ages at www.viphonebook.com and see all that we have here, and on which island. Why don't you just buy a car when you get here? I mean, after buying it there, then you have to ship it and pay road tax and get it inspected and registered. It'd be easier to get it here. And less costly, too, without the hassles.

Marty has the right idea...
Do your homework. If you buy a new car and have shipped here you will pay shipping and handling charges as well as taxes that might include a high fee for a foreign made car. The bottom line might be much higher than buying a new car here. It is true that used cars on the island are often subject to tought use and still get a higher sales price. But new cars can be a different thing. ASK the questions and get the answers before you decide to go through the shipping hassle.

Thank you Onika! Also thanks stxer and marty. We will being getting the vechile before we get there. As it is a neccessity. But just wanted to get something that could be repaired without a lot of difficulty if the occassion should arise once we get there. After reading a lot of information on this message board it seems as if some models are very difficult to get parts/service for! Thank you once again.
