Good morning,

I may have the need to ship my car from St Thomas to Florida or further.

I don't really want to go through the selling process right now due to coronavirus.

Does anyone have any brokers they would recommend to help in the process?

I have also had less luck getting a hold of shipping companies at this time (so if you recommend any of those that would be helpful as well).

Thanks in advance!

I have personally used Blue Ocean Transport (site advertiser) to ship a car from Florida to St. Thomas and in fact they arranged to transport the car from a car dealer in Salt Lake City to Jacksonville Florida port and then onward to St. Thomas.

Once the car arrived in St. Thomas, I used Beep Business on island to handle the customs clearance and registration in USVI, so I'm sure they can also assist with sending a car back to the US Mainland.

Good Luck.

You can also get a quote from Tropical and Crowley.  They both have websites and you can just email them and ask for a quote.  Tell them you would like ocean freight and inland freight from ST. Thomas to where ever you decide.  Email them the title of the vehicle as well as the dimensions and weight of the vehicle (usually can just find that online).  I have used both Crowley and Tropical in the past.  I prefer Tropical over Crowley.  But based on good reviews I've seen in the past, I'm pretty sure I am going to give Blue Ocean a try next time.  I usually do this once a year or so for work.

I think the market value of cars are higher in the USVI versus the mainland.  Have you considered selling the car on St. Thomas and buying again once you get off-island.  This would save the shipping costs, which can easily run $3K.  Just a thought.

Yes, I actually am considering selling it as well, just trying to build some resources in case I fail to sell it before leaving. I'm not pursuing it as the only option because I still have a loan so I don't have the title in hand. I also don't want to interact with many test-drivers right now obviously.

But, if anyone is in the market for a 2017 Jeep Patriot Latitude 2.4 L 4x4 with ~55k mileage, silver, a couple scratches, but not beat up badly like people's "island cars". I'd be willing to part with it for $13,500 (KBB price, which people usually charge about $3k more for the St Thomas price) if you're OK with getting the title after I pay the loan off. Or, $15,000 if you want the title at time of payment (because I'll have to take out a personal loan to pay off the car loan).

Thanks everybody!

Has anyone used Lunn Shipping?

I received a good quote from them, and the person I've been interacting with has been very helpful.

Also, does anyone have an auto-broker they'd recommend in order to fulfill obtaining the required documents from the Lieutenant Governor's Office and the BMV to ship?

Ferrol Trucking will probably do the documentation for you.  They do docs for incoming.  They are on STX, not sure if they do STT.
