Attorney Jobs
Hello all - Are there any St. Thomas attorneys out there who can speak to the employment scene for attorneys on the island?
How is the job search down there? I understand that typically employers want you to be on island before they are willing to commit and am curious if the same generally applies to law firms on island.
Any advice/information is greatly appreciated.
Most lawyers we've known over the years came down to clerk or take another public service office. A few have stayed, most did not. That was more on STX than STT, but I think the same holds true.
One thing, you have to take the VI bar.
Don't know of any openings, but maybe worth researching. I think attorney's still want to see you in-person when applying/interviewing. There is a huge amount of people who get here and realize it's not what they thought it was going to be.
I know of somebody who got their job that way, and we got our apartment that way too. Employees don't want to risk hiring somebody who may not last a month..turnover is expensive.
Good luck.
I had tenants a couple yrs ago that relocated to for husband to take a position with a private firm.
They are still here so private firms do recruit. Maybe contact the VI Bar Association for information?
