AT&T Wireless Problems East End STX
If anyone else is having problems with dropped calls and/or no service on the East End of STX please call AT&T and report the problem. AT&T again is clueless and they seem to think all the problems on STX were resolved last week.
I first started having problems about May 19th.
If you call (866) 700-2105 you go directly to technical support and avoid the dreaded telephone tree from hell. I have called twice and both times AT&T has given me a $50 credit so the call can be quick and profitable.
I was in Puerto Rico for the weekend and AT&T's service was fantastic, even had 4G lite data.
I would be satisfied if I could make a call here that wouldn't drop every minute or two.
Ditto! Thanks for the phone number!
I also called and they verified that they are still having tower issues, rep spent awhile trying to pull up details and could only say the trouble ticket (1 of 2) is still open from 5-25-12 and 5-29-12 and they are working on it.
For what it is worth.. Also stated that he saw a dead zone on the map between east end and Christiansted and that a note is on the map that they are planning to add a tower (or maybe they will add onto a existing tower, he wasn't sure) but in a new location, sometime in the next 12 months to improve coverage.
Fingers crossed!
I called today as well and they said they were showing 3 towers on STX, primarily on the east end, were moderately to severely degraded. They told me one tower had an expected restoration date of 6/2 and the others 6/5, for what it's worth.
Thanks for calling.
Unless we keep reminding them they always seem to forget us. I was told when I called everything would be fine by May 25th.
Amazing that the techs in PR (who also service the VI ) can keep their system functioning so well yet they can't catch a plane over to the VI and fix their system here in less than two weeks.
Thank you Jim Dandy....we called ATT yesterday....they are aware of it ....also got $50.00 credit!!we are in Cotton Valley.
reason for no improved infrastructure in the VI was due to the freeze on cell towers by the government but i believe it is now lifted. Maybe we could somehow talk to att and tell them catch a plane over to the VI and improve the service.
Called AT&T again on June 6th.
Service is still bad. AT&T acknowledges that the five towers on STX are degraded but has no update on when it will be corrected. The women I spoke with comment was that the service will be better next year when they upgrade the USVI to 4G.
I have filed a complaint with the PSC on the chance that they might be able to light a fire under AT&T to fix their problem.
The PSC can be reached at www.psc.gov.vi, where you can file a complaint on line or you can call the PSC at 778-6010.
On my Google talk with AT+T now.... Gave them this website so they can see the conversations about our issues.
Had the same thing happen last April. They said the towers were "downgraded" then too - nothing has changed.
Good morning, all...
Here in South Grapetree, I'm also experiencing MANY dropped calls. Very frustrating. The same thing happened in Gallows Bay yesterday afternoon.
Everything was fine for me, up until late May.
One or two odd exceptions, however: Last night, I spent 42 uninterrupted minutes on the phone with AT&T Customer Service! I've also had good luck speaking with a friend in Chicago, who uses a landline.
I can't figure out these strange inconsistencies in the system's behavior. But I reported these observations to AT&T last night.
Crossing my fingers for some resolution soon...
Just hung up with AT&T. They told me the same as everyone else. Several towers on the east end are having issues and some are deteriorated. They are "working to fix them". I had to ask for the credit and was told it should only be a one time credit, but he did the credit for me. It was worth the call and AT&T for sure knows what's happening. Maybe if we all keep calling to complain things will happen. Supposedly work is scheduled for the middle of next week to start fixing the problems. We'll see.
