there is an excellent allergist in the same practice as my husband - call 778 7788 and ask for Dr Gibbs - I believe he works in the pm - My husband ( a rnp) starts seeing patients at 7am but I think Gibbs is brighter than Eric!
Right now mold may be a big factor!

I was curious about this before I moved here too. I used to have asthma quite bad - spent 40 days over 1 year in the hospital and off work for 3 months because of it.

I have had a couple bouts of "allergy face" since June. Nothing compared to living in Michigan. Despite the mold factor, I am very suprised with all the rain we've had and the humidity that there hasn't been more of a problem for me.

I don't use an inhaler or meds on regular basis - and not at all since I've been here.

Good luck!

Bumping up this thread on asthma...it is waay old. My daugher (dd) has asthma (very well-controlled) and also some allergies. Just wondering if any of you are currently suffering from the like, who your doctor's or pediatricians may be, and if you have severe problems there as opposed to other places you have lived in the states.

Thanks!

I'm on STT & I have asthma now & go to Dr. Audria Thomas who is one of my favorite people on this island. It's been a while since I've had any problems.

My hubby has been a severe allergy sufferer his whole life. He allergies have decreased by about 40% since moving down here. He's quite happy & I couldn't believe it. He came down here stocked to the brim w/all his script allergy meds!We moved from Ohio so that might make a difference.

Try acupuncture, all of my allergies completely disappeared after having treatment. This was a doctor in NJ who after inserting the needles attached the tems machine to them to stimulate the nerves. I am not familiar with any of the alternative doctors on island. Also look into taking local honey and pollen.

Good Luck
Mike
