apartments, jobs
* i'm looking for a two bedroom/ bathroom apartment.there are 2 adults and 2 children. both adults are professional bartenders looking for jobs. where can i find all this information?
First of all, which island? Secondly, you probably can't find an apartment or a job until you are actually on island. Read though the archives and the moving stories.
It isn't true that you CANT find a job or an apartment unless you're on island. Yes, it is difficult but if you are persistant and keep making calls calls calls, it can happen. My husband and I are in the restaurant business as well and we're on our way to STJ in a couple of months and we have PLENTY of prospective jobs. I have also been in contact with a property manager for 7 months. It has been frustrating at times but we're keeping a positive attitude. Do LOTS of research and make calls. The USVi's have PLENTY of restaurants.
Cheers,
Amanda
Yes, you can find prospects. But most bosses and landlords are not going to seal the deal until they see you on island. It has nothing to do with anything, except they hear from a lot of folks who say they are coming and never show up.
Hello Dee,
You can try the Daily News online at www.virginislandsdailynews.com that is the online version of the print paper however it does not list all the classifieds or articles the print version does; also the St. Croix paper is the Avis and the Island Traders provide the most classifieds for different things from apartments to cars and yard sales - its a weekly paper and no online. It is difficult to secure an apartment from away and in reality you may not want to - you know go see the place yourself and make sure its what you want, a nice view, child friendly ect. Perhaps one of you can move down and secure a place and then the other three can come down a week or two later hopefully after an apartment has been found.
