Anyone Remember Me?
I lived on St. Thomas early 1980 through late 1982 (I was in my early 20's). Spent a lot of time on Morningstar Beach and remember Rick and his brilliant bartending skills. I lived up in Lerkenlund with Carlos ?? and Dale Mullins, the then manager of Megan's Bay Resort. I remember when Jimmy Buffett played at Rosie O'Grady's. A guy named Paul owned that bar. I had been at Syb's the night that Liz got shot. Terrible! Oh, and Studio 54...got a black eye on the dance floor one night. I worked for Warren Baugh, the CPA located above Drake's Alley. Foxy's Wooden Boat Race...do they still have that? I've been back, but it has changed drastically and I prefer St. John now. Still sailing but have much shorter season here in the Boston area. I had the time of my life!
Would love to hear from any of my friends from way back...

Yeah, I remember you, you left owing me a ton of money:-o:D
???
I lived and worked in St Thomas about 1980 to 1981, I worked for a company that was building the cable TV system. Lived at Larry's Hideaway at Hull bay for about 6 months then moved to a trailer house up Hull Bay Rd that had a great view of Megans Bay. There was a gal living at Larry's Hideaway for a while when I was there and I remember her taking a job downtown at a Bar named Rosie O'Gradys I think. Her name was Pam and I think she was from Boston. Cute petite gal, always wondered about her and how things turned out for her.
@CK
I was the world’s worst bartender at Bartolino’s Dec 1981-May 1982. It was my first bar tending job and everyone wanted a fruity cocktail like a Pina Colada (which I had never made before!). Best memory was kitchen crew meal where we ate daily chef’s catch. I remember a waitress - Julie. Bart never interacted except to frown at my terrible drinks! Did the topless sunning at Morningside. Lived in a group of cottages off of Crown Mountain road. I remember a Ronnie and her young son David lived there too.
Don't know how many of these original and ancient posters are still looking at this forum - I knew almost all the folks mentioned - worked Fat City and Flying Fish in the 70's - played 2 on 2 volleyball most days at Morningstar beach and still live here in STT - saw many changes in 40+ years for sure - many of the names mentioned have gone to the beaches in the sky and are missed - the characters that lived in STT in the 70's and early 80's are the people novels, movies and legends use for examples!!

So true and I think may of the folks dreaming about moving to the USVI's are envisioning that lifestyle. Fortunately or unfortunately, that was a different time, not likely to repeat itself anytime soon.
Hi Lynne
I lived in St Thomas in the early 80's too...I was the F&B Director at Mahogany Run, Dale Mullens was the GM.. Later worked at Contant Grate House as GM Dale worked their as a P/T Bartender for awhile. I Thought his roommate was Bob ??? a pilot for Virgin Air I think... Any idea where Dale is now? I remember Sybs,Green House, Morning Star Beach and many other bas that were really good.. How about the Pink Sheraton Hotel?

@exit-zero Hi there I believe it was Carol. I was on that Rock several times in the mid 70's to early 80's. Went with a high school buddy and his gal which turned out to be his wife. Their names were Robyn and Patty Fisher. Robyn would once in a while play a little music at Fat City. Just a solo act with his guitar and singing. I got together with Jan's sister Adrian and was hoping you or someone may have known her and how she turned out. I too was in my early 20's at the time. For the life of me I can't remember the name of the place but I rented a motel room that was actually kind of a tree house. Had a tree coming through the floor and out the ceiling just a short walk from Fat City and Jan's house. Would love to hear if anyone or yourself recall Robyn or Adrian. I'd give just about anything to be able to find her again. I should have married her when I had the chance. 😍 I will try and attach a photo I have of Jan and Adrian. Hopefully the pic will turn out.
Kind Regards,

@sportfish If you know her full name just do a google search. More than likely more than 1 person has her same name but you will be able to find her by going through the list. starting with looking at the age range of the names listed
I was on STT in 1985 for the better part of the year. Panchita's Restaurant had a satellite at the Yacht Haven Hotel, which is where I worked. I roomed in the run down portion of the hotel with a guy named Mike Plankey and members of Dick Solberg's band, who played at the back street bars. I got there at the same time as Freddie Rabuse, who I understand never left and is now a fixture there. I also "worked" for Chris Sawyer Diving. I helped with the tourists and he let me dive for free and got me certified up to advanced open water.
I left for law school in Boston and never looked back...until now.
