Does anyone have a large dog crate on St John they aren't using and want to sell? Or let us borrow for a few weeks? We will be on island Aug 10th and want a crate for our dog while we are at the beach for a couple hours here and there while he get adjusted (i.e. not destroy the house!). But only in the beginning, then he'll be fine in the house alone (once he knows it's his house!)
A new one runs $180. Ouch!

I used to have one, but I loaned it out and never got it back. BUT, you might want to try the ACC and see if they could rent you one for a little while. Worth a shot I suppose, and the money would go to a good cause. (340) 774-1625 St. John Animal Care Center stjacc@islands.vi
Canines, Cats, and Critters also sells them, but they are probably really expensive. I think they offer a doggie daycare there as well if you wanted to check that out. It's not far from where you will be living, maybe a 4 minute drive. Canines, Cats, and Critters

Just buy a kennel.
You'll find it comes in handy over time.
$180 isn't much to spend for your pet's wellbeing.
Its not like your coming here, jobless.
What are you bringing your dog here in?

Thanks guys. Ollie (the dog) is actually a service dog in training to help people at disaster sites, hospitals and retirement centers. He is riding at our feet for the flight to learn how to help people with their fear of flying.

I saw a post on Facebook by violincora about her first 4 months here. Since she mentioned someone helping her with a dog crate, I thought it might be nice if she could be encouraged to post her moving story here...It is always disheartening when people participate until they get here, then disappear. 🙁
