any UVI students wanna share some experience??
well, i after debating forever about it, i finally decided to apply to transfer to UVI. i have good grades and everything, so i'm not too worried about not being accepted. the cost of tuition is insane compared to what i pay now, but i think it would be worth it. so my question to any students on here or anyone that would know, what is the school like? please feel free to share as many details as you want. anything... hows the food? hows campus life? how are the dorms? i can't seem to find where the school is actually located, is it close to some nice beaches or near charlotte amalie? is it walking distance to any stores or am i going to need a source of transportation? any info will be greatly appreciated. thanks a lot!!

Not a student there, but I did have a relative graduate. The university is just to the west of the airport, on John Brewer's Bay. The students escape there between and after class. There are no amenities, but it is a beautiful beach with great snorkeling and swimming. The dorms are West Indian style- small rooms, louvered window walls, no a/c. I know students who did not have private transportation and did fine.
One hint about the tuition...if you plan on going for four years, it may be worth getting in-state status. If you do, you have to live independently, not in the dorm, for a year (?) One other piece of advice: you need to have your head screwed on correctly. There are plenty of lures for young people here in the the VI. Keep your mind on studying. Or else. 🙁
