Any performance car buffs on STX?
OK, when I moved here last year I was convinced STX isn't the place for a performance car given the small size of the island (just a single 'highway' and a couple of decent twisty roads in the hills) and condition of the roads. I sold my sports sedan and didn't ship it here as a result. I haven't changed my mind but I have been surprised on a few occassions to see real sports cars here. The big shocker happened yesterday when I spotted a Nissan GT-R.
Am I misisng something here - is there really an opportunity to enjoy the drive so to speak here? I've never been into Japanese cars that much but I'm starting to get an itch for something simple that can be serviced on island like a new 370Z maybe. Am I crazy? Is ANY sports car overkill for STX? (I'd even be happy with a new CTS-V or possibly even a Camaro but suspect they too are overkill and I couldn't enjoy the drive here.)
I know there will never be a HPDE opportunity here but how about an autocross? Has there ever been an autocross course in the USVI anywhere?
I guess you haven't seen the ENZO....I don't think there is a limit here....That skyline is nice though.
Try the car race track by the airport and dump runs races on occasion .I hear that a group is trying to get a real track started on STX. I hope them sucess. We could use some high peformance fun.
That track is a drag strip. Yes there are a few performance cars on STX but mostly drag racers.
Ive seen the black GT-R.....I was stunned to see it here. Seen a Laguna Seca blue M3, and several juiced mustangs, plus a wide assortment of cars with giant free-flow exhaust and stickers haha...
The track by the dump is growing...they have races almost everyweek...they even have a xmas tree, there are funny cars..I really like "HomeGrown"...there is a new 09 challenger on the island now...Roush Mustang (heard it got totalled)...but like I said...after seeing the Ferrari Enzo...nothing surprises me anymore....not sure why you would bring them here but......
Yikes, I haven't seen the local Enzo - that's sheer lunacy. I worried about bringing late-model Volvos to the island without a dedicated service facility. I guess if you can afford an Enzo you don't flinch at the thought of flying in your own mechanic?
Bringing a Million+ dollar car here in my opinion is crazy, you would need a new suspension with every oil change! Like you said though...if you can afford an Enzo...you probably have the mechanic on speed dial....Hell Ferrari probably provides one.
