Any country clubs or public pools on STX?

I'm looking for a public pool, or a country club in STX. The beach is wonderful, but sometimes it's nice to sit by a pool (that someone else maintains), in a nice lounge; and have a nice snack bar or restaurant near by. I asked the Buccaneer if they have anything like that (access to their pool for a yearly fee). They were very nice; said that many people had also asked. But, no, they (understandably) like to reserve their facilities (except the beach) for their patrons.

"...sometimes it's nice to sit by a pool (that someone else maintains)..."

Many homes have pools and those pools are frequently maintained by a pool service rather than the homeowner.

But pool services probably cost as much as a country club membership, IF we had any. I've never had a pool or a CC membership. I go to friends'! But, I'm a good pool guest. I bring the pina colada ingredients.:)

Yearasta,
That is a fabulous facility. The pool, the pavilion, benches, picnic tables, grills, and the beach goes forever! It's the best kept secret on STX. We always take guests out there, and unless we go on a Sunday, we seldom see more than a very few people. We had friends out there this past weekend, and they said there were swimming classes going on in the pool and some type of gathering in the pavilion.

It is extremely well maintained, clean, still looks brand new. I don't know how long it's been there but more than 2 years. But it's not where you have a lounge chair by the pool and a server bringing drinks. You need to take your own food and beverages, chair, umbrella, etc. and you have to "set up" outside the pool fence.

I don't know who you contact about using the pavilion, but it's a perfect spot for a family reunion or any type of casual group gathering, even a wedding and reception.

I can get contact info for you if you like Juanita...we were there last weekend, my nephew had to DJ for CHS class of '93 reunion. I agree it is a really nice place, most of the beach is roped off right now for the turtles, but the pool is still open and a good part of the beach.

The secret's out! When it's open, I opt to park in that lot, and walk down the beach to Sandy Point. None of the bumpy ride and it's a nice walk.

Juanita, you would have to contact Parks and Recreation, they handle the rentals if you wan to keep something at the pool, Canegator, Creamers Park, and I think even Lagoon. That pool has been there for as long as I can remember. I can think back on days that i use to go there, I was maybe in Elementary, and i know it had to have been there a while before that. They just made an upgrade, about 2 to 3 years ago though.

Juanita, thanks... I like your thinking... friends + pool + drinks!

Yearasta (me drinkin talkin teacha) and others, thanks for the tip on Sandy Park. I will definitely check that out. It sounds like this is one of those spots (like hidden parking spots at malls on mainland) that you try not to tell anyone about, lest it get too crowded. So, I owe you a beer, or two...
