Any Coconut Vine News on the Divi?

Any news or rumors on the Divi? I've seen the drone video on You Tube of the roof damage and the observation deck/dock being completely destroyed along with the part on the sand getting obliterated.

I'm a March timeshare owner and those units look OK but it's the rest of the Divi I'm concerned about. I'm talking about cash flow not necessarily their ability to generate power and clean water.

They've got no casino cash coming in and the disaster they call an all-inclusive resort hasn't been packing them in. Two years ago we changed our plans and went in September and got to witness the sargassum seaweed mess. That was another revenue killer for them.

On a positive note I have to say the timeshares have been kept up very well in comparison to the hotel.

My other question is has anybody heard if the new $25/day timeshare tax will be suspended to boost tourism on all 3 islands in the wake of Irma and Maria?

The company that owns Divi Carina on St. Croix also owns several other resorts and casinos.

They'll be just fine.

The resort suffered extensive damage. The resort should open back up next year
The casino suffered some damag . Air conditioning and roof and of course the one wall of plaster that's missing. They can open back up as soon as repairs are made and curfew is lifted or at least more reasonable

And mother nature is no one's fault. This year was light for that. And from what I understand they rake it daily. Not sure what more they can do about it

Can you tell me what other casinos and resorts they own? The owners of Carina Bay only license the Divi brand for St. Croix. I can swap my timeshare week for another Divi branded resort but I can not pay my yearly dues to Divi headquarters in North Carolina.

I did IT consulting for Treasure Bay nack before I moved to STT.... They are no strangers to this, they lost all their properties in Biloxi during Katrina...... There used to be staff at Divi that I knew from states.....
