I can see why they need a good sales person. Investing millions in old tech 1950's era copper wire systems that don't work very well and expecting people to sign up to wait for hours to be abused by customer service staff will require a sales superstar. I can't wait for the fiber lines to be complete so I can dump ICC and move to VOiP.
Hearing some interesting rumors out of Vitelco / Innovative / Prosser's Folly.
Don't forget to add "must be able to sell an unpolished turd".
"Ya can't polish a turd".
Robert Prosky. Christine. 1983
Mythbusters proved that you CAN polish a turd.....
Mythbusters proved that you CAN polish a turd.....
eeew. Really?
lol. That's hilarious.
I walked into the tutu location to get prices and look at their services when I got to STT. I took one look at that waiting room in the back and the people looked miserable and most were half asleep lol. I decided to leave.
I can't see how their current business model will result in any growth. While their competitors are solidly wireless, Innovative continues to string copper wires on wooden poles the then wonder why the wire is ripped off. I see another ICC bankruptcy in the near future. Then a buy out by the GVI. Makes perfect sense for an incompetent, bankrupt government to buy an incompetent, bankrupt utility.
The OP nicely posts a job offer that may be an option to someone looking to relocate, or anybody who is out of a job ... This person is just being nice... What do some people do? Shoot the messenger and speak negatively of the employer...
To the OP: I hope you do find a good candidate and thanks for posting... I looked into it and it is not my deal...
Well if the company sucks, it sucks. Maybe they treat their employees like their customers. Remember, shit rolls down hill.
Rowdy, Jim Dandy does not work for Innovative, but he is very familiar with their operations/saga. I don't think he has any skin in this job posting....just found it interesting.
Hopefully they get someone competent in their payables office as well.
I just waited an entire year for my refund for the return of my cable box deposit.
I returned the box in the beginning of Nov. 2012. I got a check, finally in Nov. 2013.
Mind you, I called every month for a yr. to ask when it would be returned.
Unfortunately, I still have a land line and they gave me that new box that has to be plugged in (more electrical waste) because my phone was out more often than on and it just sits and flashes lights so don't know what's up with that now.
As others have said that know me, I have no direct interest in Innovative. I am a telecommunications professional and follow what goes on in the industry and on St. Croix
I posted the job listing for a couple of reasons:
First, in case someone was looking for a job.
Secondly as a general interest. Everyone in the USVI has an opinion about Innovative and it is interesting to see what Innovative thinks of themselves. In my opinion the polishing a turd analogy is correct. Marketing Innovative would be even more difficult and at the end of the day you would smell just as bad.
I would not recommend anyone I know take this job. Working in paradise would not offset the futility of trying to sell Innovative.
IMHO opinion Innovative's financial viability is questionable. Currently they depend on government subsidies as a rural telephone provider to provide a huge chunk of their revenue stream. As their land line base continues to decline their subsidies will decline along with revenue from their declining subscriber base. At their peak Innovative had 90,000 + lines. In 2008 it was down to 60,000 + lines. Cell lines declined from 10,000 to several thousand before Innovative relaunched their cell phone offerings. Currently even after their rebuild neither their CATV or Internet offerings are competitive.
You will have to be a cracker jack salesperson to sell what Innovative has to offer.
I have a theory why everything here sucks. The companies here suck! They get good people to work for them, maybe even from the mainland and the are promptly jerked off. So instead of the cream we get stuck with the majority of the crap that's left over.
Some of you may remember a friend of mine who was hired by Caribbean Auto Mart a few years ago. At the very last minute Vanessa pulled some bull shit on him with the shipping of his tools and he ended up staying in the states. He's a really good tech and it would definitely have benefited CAM and the rest of us.
So, what happens now? Whenever the auto repair subject comes up on this forum one of the first things some people say is to stay away from CAM. Jim Dandy states he would not recommend this job to anyone he knows. Why? Lou Cypher says "if the company sucks it sucks. Maybe they treat their employees like their customers. Don't forget shit rolls down hill".
The saying goes: you've made you bed now lie in it.
