Anna's Cafe
I'm a bit new in town... one month today.
So I've been trying to get around and try some of the local restaurants. Today I got off work due to the wonderful rain we recieved on STX. I know it was a bit messy, but from what I've heard and seen since I've been here, it was much needed.
Anyways... I stopped by Anna's Cafe for lunch. Got the "Vito" sandwhich and some coffee. Probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. Had a chocalate chip cookie for desert that pretty much melted in my mouth.
I'm sure the place doesn't need a business boost, they seemed to have plenty of people stopping by, even during the downpour. But I thought I'd be kind enough to post this here and give them some props for excellent food and service.
Tell them to open a branch here!
I work in Gallows Bay, so I am a frequent visitor to Anna's...ALWAYS top notch!
On another note, I was in Downtown C-sted and stopped at Namaste Cafe (772-2529), where Hondo's Backyard used to be...WOW! Great coffees, espressos, cappuccinos, Chi Teas, and a nice sandwich selection...I think this place may be around a while...and the owner is very friendly...he kinda gives the place a Taoist-type atmosphere...very serene...check 'em out. On Queen's Cross, across from Bacchus (sp?).
Haven't tried Namastes but really love Anas
When is Anna's open?
Not sure of the exact hours but they are open for bfast and lunch on weekdays! The little cream cheese tarts are to die for!
Great little place and when you finish your coffee stop by next door at the bookstore - Undercover books... great place, great staff. 🙂
BTW - welcome "home"
We were down there this morning but they weren't open - guess we'll have to check it out next week.
Thanks 🙂
When I lefrt island they were only open during the week days. At least it was open on Mon. when you could barely find anything open.
Ana's is open Monday-Friday from 7-3. They are great-bread is baked fresh daily! We love it there.
We made it there this morning . . . sooo good. Anna just figured out the recipe for an Oatmeal, Coconut, Cranberry muffin that is excellent!
you guys are killin' me with the tarts, bread and muffins - now i will HAVE to go the day after i get there! i'm craving it already! be ready anna... aug 30th is right around the corner so make a few extra of everything! ha ha
Anna's is great and I highly recommend it... but, have you also tried the Starfish Patissiere (sp) located accross from Plaza Extra East. I was in there this morning and had an almond danish... YUMMMMMM. Their croissant's are excellent and they have baked fresh bread too. I understand they do the dessert's for several restaurants and I've had their special order cakes...really good.
So, Starfish is not quite the social scene of Anna's, but good food. The owners have 'been here long time' and I'm wishing them luck on this new business venture.. I think they've been open about 6 months or so.
It's so nice to have options.
We had lunch at Paradise Cafe today. It was "fine".
First, we tried Shenanigan's. There was a table of 6 when we arrived, and the server was definitely in the weeds. She took their drinks over one at a time, checking the ticket between each trip. She said she would be with us in a few minutes. We sat for a little while, and she didn't even hand us menus. It was hot too, so we left. Went to Angry Nate's on the boardwalk. Sat at a table by the window, so it was a little cooler. They were nice, came with menus, took drink orders and promptly went to the sound system and cranked it UP! We were the only table. They did not turn it up for us. We're older, and while we enjoy good rock 'n roll, we prefer to have a conversation over lunch. There were a couple of guys at the bar, but they didn't look like customers. Could have been, but the body language looked more like employees. It was about 11:30 AM. We told them to cancel the drinks, we were leaving because the music was so loud we couldn't talk. They said fine, didn't offer to turn it down.
