American Airlines does it AGAIN!
The prices for dogs and cats have gone up.
In-Cabin
For tickets issued prior to May 21, 2008:
$80 USD per container
For tickets issued on or after May 21, 2008:
$100 USD per container
Checked
For tickets issued prior to May 21, 2008:
$100 USD
For tickets issued on or after May 21, 2008:
$150 USD per container
Now here's the messed up part....it says for tickets issued prior to May 21, 2008 it's still $80 dollars...we bought our tickets May 13th so it should be 80 dollars for us right?.....WRONG
I was just told by the agent that since pets fly on a first come first served basis they don't get a ticket issued until they day we fly...so therefore we have to play $100 per dog.
What baffles me is...if that is the case then why put a date cut-off for the prices..."For tickets issued prior to May 21, 2008" <------why should that matter..they have already flown so why put it on the website.
I hope I am making sense here....
If anyone else traveling with with pets have any better luck or clarification let us know...Pretty nice how American Airlines sneaked these fees in...they publicized the luggage fees but nothing was said about the pet fee increase...I guess they want everyone to get a surprise when they get to the airport.
We booked our flight on 5/21 and are flying on 6/12 they told us our pets had a spot on the plane, but a ticket would not be issued and we could not pay for them until we checked them in and it would be $100.00 per pet.
We bought our tickets before 5/21...we bought them on 5/13 and we're flying on 6/11....I'm just confused as to why they would put a cutoff of 5/21 on the website....according to their rules it should be effective immediately regardless of when you bought the tickets....the 5/21 date is just confusing me
