All Risk Cargo Insurance
We are in the process of moving down to St. Croix and using Paradise Freight to ship a container of our household belongings. I was surprised that they don't offer insurance on our belongings (they do for our auto) and they suggested we procure "all risk cargo insurance." Has anyone gone this route before and whom did you use for this type of coverage? Our current renters policy will have limited coverage during the move, but not cover all types of damage or incidents. We've searched for "all risk cargo insurance" online but what we've found seems geared towards frequent shipments or businesses. Thanks!

I'm not surprised that they don't offer insurance on your belongings. If the stuff weren't new, how would the adjuster be able to determine what damage existed "before" the shipment versus "after" the shipment.
When we moved here 16 years ago, we shipped our container via Tropical. They didn't offer insurance then either. Funny thing, 16 years later, most of the stuff we shipped is still in the original shipping cartons in our warehouse.
And the auto insurance probably only covers total loss due to fire or sinking, no other damages covered. At least that's what Blue Ocean's insurance covers.
I moved recently and attempted to find insurance as well. I couldn't and I tried 3-4 agencies including my auto/home carrier here and where I moved from. Good luck, but don't think you'll find anyone.
