Airline Flights and Bad Weather
I'm trying to get a flight from Chicago into STT sometime in the next 3 to 4 days. With a hurricane the size of Ike, how does it impact air travel in the Caribbean? Are delays and cancellations only in the immediate area with the high winds or do they close down a very widespread area. Most flights have connections in Miami (where the 5 day forcast predicts Ike's landfall), so that is also another issue of concern, last thing that I want is to be stuck at the airport. Am I better to just wait, or try to find an open window to fly into Miami and then on to STT.
Thanks,
Molly
So far hurricane IKe wont be an event in St thomas or Puerto rico ??? so don't worry people of the north think when there is a hurricane in the Caribbean all islands get it and that is not so. Don't worry. If i was you i try to take a flight directly to San Juan or if you can find one to St thomas you probably wont have delays.
But a lot of flights go through Miami or Charlotte. Not looking too good for either right now.
Thanks rokipatel and Juanita,
It looks like my best option is to high tail it out of here and fly out tommorrow to Miami and then on to STT.
