AG Walker
did any business owners get the letter telling them they are seriously delinquent in their VIESA?
I did.
It was a "form letter" that was delivered through regular mail, not registered.
There was no reference to my company or my account.
Basically, it just said you should pay up your substantial arrearages or face summary execution by the DoJ.
I have a credit with VIESA so I threw it away.
The letter was addressed on last night's TV news with Mr Walker explaining how it came about and advising those who received the letter and disagreed with its content to contact his office. He explained that companies and amounts due weren't included in the letter in order to protect privacy and that the details are best dealt with one on one. The news segments are rebroadcast several times, may even be available online.

I call BS...they just don't have the technology or know how to merge records into a mailing like that, which is early 80's capability for any government IT department.
Amateurs.
I would love for them to take me to court. You don't need a lawyer to show up and provide receipts and proof of payment. Have this happen a couple of times and the Judges would refuse to hear the cases.

I have to agree. They're mailing to the business owners. So whose privacy would they be protecting? They're creating extra work for both parties. Gotta keep those public employees busy, I guess.
There was an article in last week's Daily News. Most of the people quoted were very critical about the AG's action and tone of the letter.
Our accountant said throw it in the trash.
Whatever, works for me. If you want to bleat "trash" and "amateurs" and toss the letter away or otherwise complain, do as you please. Simply passing on information.
he seems to be on a fishing expedition . wonder if it will work
what about his suing of Exxon
what about his suing of Exxon
What about it? He's a member of a (to date) 17 strong coalition in different states involved in the suits.
If you owe money, pay it or make arrangements to do so.
If you don't, don't worry about just make sure your records are in order to verify your standing.
Bleat a. The characteristic cry of a goat or sheep. b. A sound similar to this cry. 2. A whining, feeble complaint.
A word used frequently on this forum, favored esp. by one.

Does anyone know how to translate this?

I'm sure there are remedial reading classes on St Croix.

Apparently it's deemed by many to be of merit. This article from the Washington Times gives an overall look at it:

Lots of merit when they tout Walkers ability to shakedown industry
Impressive...
After one of the big hurricanes here on STT the BIR issued a statement that most of their tax records had been lost in the storm and would taxpayers please bring in their records to help update the BIR.
But gee, I think most folks responded that all their records were lost in that storm too!
Yes, their office was next to Grand Union - I had a bird's eye view of Grand Union almost totally flattened with iron girders wripped apart. What a mess.

No doubt his filing of the suit was part of a grand design to garner him a prominent position way up the federal judicial totem pole. Now he'll hopefully have more time to devote to local issues. Hopefully.
