After 3 weeks of battling with AT&T, I am turning to you for help!
Good morning All,
I know there have been posts about this but the search didn't turn any up.
My apartment on St. John has very limited AT&T service. I was told by several AT&T reps to purchase the 3G MicroCell from them. When it arrived, the automated set-up system would not recognize my address, so I called tech support and they said they were "adding it to the system." When I called a week later for an update, that rep laughed and said "why do you have that? It doesn't work in the VI!"
There are a lot of other details but I won't bore you with them. Basically, after they "updated" my phone, I get even worse service than I did before. I know there are other third party cell phone service boosters out there. Has anyone here ever used one successfully? If so, do you know which brand and where I can buy it?
Thanks so much! It has been hard not being able to talk to my family right after my big move!
Go see Jason or Evan at Computer Express at Connections. They will at least be able to give you some straight up answers and ideas.
We use a Z-Boost 545 that is working well for us here in STX. It is dual band so works with Sprint and AT&T phones. You do need a spot where you get some signal for it to be effective. PM me if you have more questions.
As a workaround, if you've got an iPhone and WiFi at your house, you can use Skype to make and receive calls on your phone that way.
"Does it have cell coverage" is an important criterion these days for choosing a place to live. I had an apartment with no coverage for awhile; the good news with AT&T at least is I could forward my cell to my landline at no charge (Sprint used to charge for this; don't know if they still do).
Let us know if you find a good booster that works on STJ; I'm curious. Good luck!
Oh, also -- I don't know if you've only been talking to AT&T customer service by phone, but if you have -- I would check with Darrell at ADM Wireless on the second floor of the Marketplace. He knows the ins and outs of dealing with AT&T down here and may have some ideas for helping you resolve your problem. I'm always impressed by how much he knows and how patient he is.
