Hey gang,

On STT. My auto insurance is about to expire and the company I use just charges so much and always want it in one lump sum and that's a little tough right now.

I don't want to say who I use because that seems like slander or something, but can anyone tell me who they use and if you're pleased with the service and if you can do either a monhtly payment or at the very least a quarterly payment plan.

Feel free to PM me if you're not comfortable answering here.

Cory

I don't know about STT, but on STX I've had no problem getting a payment plan thru various insurance agencies. All you can do is ask them and if they say no, call around for other quotes. Good luck to ya!8-)

I think that they have a lump sum payment because of the law requiring you to show proof of insurance when you register your car. If you only paid by the month, no one would have insurance. As it is, a lot of people don't anyway!

There is a finance company in the VI that specializes in financing insurance premiums. Your insurance agency should be able to hook you up with them, because I would guess they get a commission from the finance company.

If you or a family member has had military service, USAA would be the way to go. We have them for property and auto and they have always been great.

Do you have USAA property insurance in the VI? It was my understanding they do not insure property here.

They do not. I have USAA for kids cars in the states but they would not insure anything of mine here. I was trying to get boat insurance through them not a home.

We have our cars insured here with USAA. We were told that they are trying to expand to property here but have not been successful yet (I wish!).

We have USAA "renters insurance" which covers contents of house. Sorry if I made the assumption that property and renters were the same, it's been awhile since we've rented! With that being said, it was my understanding that USAA did offer property insurance here on STT

I am moving to St Croix in a couple of months hopefully. Can anyone give me a rough estimate on what car insurance
would cost for a 98 Jeep Wrangler (Liability). I am not a veteran so I guess USAA is not an option.

Thanks

Thanks for the all the answers and help gang. As it stands I went back to the company I normally use and they did give me a payment option. Plus my insurance has gone down about $300 from last year so that's a lot more reasonable.

I'll bump this thread back to living, if you don't mind.

How are auto-insurance costs? Is full coverage expensive and, considering relatively high probability of car being broken into - do they actually pay up?

Any information would be appreciated!
