We're looking for community organizations looking to raise money for their cause around September. We'll sponsor various events to support their efforts. We are currently fundraising for the Allen D. Burke Foundation's Basketball teams' trip to Puerto Rico. But once thats done, we'll seek to do the same thing for another community organization or group in the next quarter. We're thinking to do one every quarter. Any suggestions are helpful.

How about your local animal shelter. If anything like HSSTT, they ALWAYS need funds.
If you were on STT, I would certainly recommend you to contact:
Dellia Holodenschi
Founder/ Director
Lucky Paws Foundation
Luckypawssttvi.com
340513-1854

They do an awesome job and always need funds to help foster, maintain, relocate animals off island and provide spay and neuter services at vastly reduced costs.

I highly recommend the St. Croix Animal Welfare Center. They need all the help they can get!

in that case we may be interested in doing both. would anyone know the contact person's name and info? we'd want to enlist high schoolers looking to do some community service to plan and execute it, while we underwrite the expense.

St. Croix Animal Welfare Center is 340-778-1650. I am not sure of the name of the current development director but you can just ask for the person who would help with fundraisers.

Great that you are doing this for local organizations. Just remember that Sept. is pretty much height of our hurricane season and try to plan accordingly/have a abck up plan as we never know how our tropical storm season will be treating us. Best of Luck with fund raising for whichever endeavors you choose. My heart is definately with the animals and the elderly, if you can do both. Perhaps, the STX shelter could bring pets to visit the elderly and cheer both species up?

thanks for the heads up alana33. i just wonder if october is a better month for it? we'd want to enlist high schoolers in the community activities and then let them present checks to the organization(s).

Maybe one of our more statistically prone members could give input storms in Sept. vs. Oct. on that but also kids are just getting back in school in Sept. so maybe reach out to all parties concerned to see what works for everyone when you decide on what you shall do/sponsor?

One of my non-profits over here in STT can use some help. It's the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence for St Thomas/St John. (COAST) We work in conjunction with the village in St Croix as well as other organizations to place folk in need of help.
