99L - will it or won't it + a GREAT new weather source online!
99L - will be interesting to see how the forecasts pan out. Most likely for us, heavy rains tomorrow and tomorrow night, most likely forming into a TS as it passes.
Meanwhile I found a GREAT new LOCAL weather source online, for those who are on Facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/NorthsideWeatherStation/?hc_ref=NEWSFEED&fref=nf
Thanks for that link. I mainly keep an eye every day on weatherunderground which is remarkably accurate in the particular area of STT where I live but any "local" additions are always welcome. Rain, please - my plants are SO much happier with rainfall instead of hosing!
YW!
Yes I check Jeff Master's blog on wunderground which is extremely informative and accurate.
This new Facebook site is amazing, though, because meteorologist Charles is posting almost real-time info!!
Just posted:
We are getting some info from the hurricane hunter planes and they are NOT finding winds over 35 mph and no closed circulation, a closed circulation would indicate a tropical depression ..we will be getting info all day as they are in the system . Stay tuned as the day goes on , the planes could find a closed circulation later , meteorologist Charles....
A lot of local info on:
And a big collection of sites in one place at:

The running joke is "watch what the sailors do" If they are all moving and tying boats up double and triple then it's time to prepare. Actually I'm one of those prep like its a Tropical Storm people and be mad at yourself for having to undo anything you did, than say "Oops"
Hey stxsailor
I also check what Jane Higgins from STT has to say on stormcarib.
Her husband is an aviator and for sure they don't play around at the airports when something is coming!
sailors and pilots, one in the same, some say we are all nuts."There are old pilots and bold pilots but there are no old, bold pilots" swap pilots for sailors and the saying works. I was in aviation for 30 years. I'll check out stormcarib thanks
A flash flood watch is in effect for the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico from overnight tonight until noon on Thursday.

The Facebook group is not exactly new. I've followed it for quite some time now. It has a great local angle. They are really good about updating when a storm is getting close,, and are also responsive when you ask questions.
2-4" of rain thru Thursday is latest forecast. Looks like it will develop after it passes us thankfully
Thanks for the clarification. It is new to me because I have just discovered It. What a great discovery for a weather geek like me...it is an awesome source of information!

1.5" so far where I'm at on STT since last night. Keep coming
I found great app for IPhone IPad called Storm. It's free and unbelievably useful.
