757 coming to STX!
Have flown the 757 back and forth to MIA several times in the last three weeks now...I think it's the oldest plane in the fleet! Beat up, seats torn, very dirty, armrests in exit row almost impossible to get tray out, etc, etc, etc. Flights have been half empty but I've been flying on weekdays.
I flew in on a Saturday and it was just over half full.... Flew out of STX on Sunday and it was fairly packed...
The 757 is an old plane... The one I flew out on Sunday was so old that it still had CRT monitors dropping off of the ceiling at the center isle...The one on the forward end had to be pulled down and raised up by the flight attendant... LOL... I'd rather fly in the 737-800...
I remain with AA....
Yep, and half the CRT monitors don't work with lines cutting across them...at least they tried to show a Star Trek movie, ha ha!
I think I flew on that same plane 15 years ago when I was flying to DC all the time for Dell. Probably did. *grins*
I flew last week, no problems with the plane at all. It wasn't full but this is still slow season so it's as it should be.
My biggest complaint right now is the schedules - they're only flying in the middle of the day. Which means to get to and from Austin, basically I have to stay overnight somewhere. The return the booking tool wants me to take is literally: Austin - Dallas; Dallas - LAX; LAX - MIA (redeye); 4 hour wait in MIA; board MIA to STX next day at 11:10AM. I really don't need that many miles.
Or even funnier, STX to RSW (southwest FL): STX to MIA; MIA to LAX (redeye); LAX to MCO (Orlando); MCO to RSW (next day). RSW is a 2 1/2 hour drive from MIA. I'm driving. *tpfft*
I am very lucky flying from Ohio out of CLE... both outbound and inbound flights line up perfectly...
As I mentioned before, I flew last year during low season and the flights were still packed... This low season is unusually low...
The only businesses that gave me a good service in STX were Avis Rental and The Galleon... Everything else was average and a few unwanted surprises at known places with good service that turned out to be subpar this time around...
The thing that they're doing different now that is not the same as last year is they're not leaving the aircraft in STX overnight. I'm assuming that will change during the season. But right now it's 11:10 - 1:55 (land in STX) and then turn around depart at 3:00 land in MIA at 6:05. So it's one 757 turning around in the middle of the day. I get it, but it makes for some rough connections.
The early morning flight will start back up in late Nov just like it always has-----remember, the early AM flight has only been going on for a few years..
You can always fly to SJU and get an early connection
Except there's no Eagle flight to SJU any longer and a ticket requires an additional fare (and hassle) for Seaborne or Cape Air. It also means a much longer flying day. It's also possible to go through STT but same hassles. With the amount we fly, we are pros at all the options.
This is the other reason we must leave, unfortunately. Business requirements don't allow us to keep juggling these flights - even during the season the schedules aren't the same as a few years ago. Hopefully as things pick up again they will right themselves but we can't wait any longer. *sigh*
Seabourn will check luggage for AA, they are a code share now.

Yah, good luck actually doing it. I would say they check luggage on paper. Hopefully they'll improve the process.
I had once to connect from SJU to STX with checked luggage via Seaborne Airlines... I had no issues at all but, I must admit I always try to avoid that combination...
Beware:
We recently purchased a ticket on AA and then the connecting on Seaborne and they would not check our bag for FREE even though we are Platinum on AA. We had to contact the Seaborne administration office in order to get the class changed on the ticket. At the time we purchased the ticket on AA, the Seaborne flights did not show up.
