IMO: yes and no.
It's long enough to imagine what it might be like if you're good at imagining, but even after my first six months I was still wondering and figuring it out.

It is certainly better than not coming at all. Use your time well, look around, don't just sit at the beach and sip drinks.... Save that for after you move!!!

If seven days is all you have, prepare a long list of things to do when you get here.

This forum has many threads with help on preparing for your arrival.

Use your time wisely. Contact a few real estate agencies by email before you leave home and ask to see what's available.

Unless you have any special concerns (health issues, small children, etc), seven days should be enough. You still won't know what living here is like, but at least you'll have an idea if you want to try it. If you are looking for work, go out and network in the field. Go to the grocery, bank, gas station, K-Mart, etc. Talk to every local you can find. If you do end up moving here, don't burn your bridges back home. Commit to some period of living here- 6 months or a year and re-evaluate.

Grow a set and quit being a weenie. Jump in with both feet like the rest of us and enjoy the ride. If you don't like it, well that's why the airplanes fly both ways.

If you really HAVE to have a job secured before you move here it may make it a lot harder - IMHO - Many people come here and take jobs that they never would have considered back in the States - for all kind of reasons , good and not so, - and networking after you are here will often change your job opportunities and personal priorities. Don't let the lack of a solid job commitment here ahead of time deter you too much.
