2Plus2 - What a surprise

I just wanted to offer this comment about the great dinner experience we had last night at 2Plus2, near and above Princess Hardware.

We were reluctant to try the place due to comments from friends, but the new "Seafood Restaurant" sign kept calling to me, and our walks by the place in the morning kept our attention focused on the newly renovated outside dinner space.

Walking in to the place was the first pleasure, very clean, new marble floors, granite bar, nice table setups, and a wall of glass overlooking the veranda, the sunset, and a bit of the water to the north.

We had drinks on the porch while waiting for dinner, and the waitress informed us there was an appetizer bar for us, with chicken wings, meatballs, and garlic bread. Delicious!

I had the best lobster preparred for me that I have tasted in my six years experience on the island. It was one pound boiled, split, the meat removed and shredded, then replaced in the half shells and drenched in butter.

If you order the beef, be sure to specify and reiterate how you want it done, as it is a seafood restaurant.

We got to know Liz pretty well while there, as she tended to our needs, and brought us our after dinner refreshment. Total bill for the night out $63.

i am laughing because some of the best food i have ever eaten has been at 2 + 2 on st. croix! they really do throw down in that kitchen and could certainly charge a lot more for their food it is so good. if i lived on st. croix, i'd be there at least once a week. have mercy, have mercy.

i've had their curried chicken and conch there before, years ago, and it was always good with big portions. I love places like this, the hole in the wall place that surprises you. Others include El Sol in Castle Coakley and the place on the Fsted waterfront whose name escapes me. Great food and just really nice people.

Is the dining room separate from the nightclub? I wouldn't mind trying it out for dinner, but not interested in loud music, etc. Maybe we'll try it for lunch, first.

Yes the dinner room is upstairs and totally new and separate. Plenty of parking, unfortunately it's across the street.

Hmmm...sounds great. The Mrs. and me were planning to go out for our anniversary this weekend and we may have to give this a shot. Our favorite hole-in-the-wall so far is Junies (sp.) which is around Peters Rest. I can't even remember the good dishes my wife has had that I've sampled as I usually start salivating for their curried shrimp and rice as soon as I get to the door. (The place doesn't look like much but it's clean and safe and they seem to do quite a bit of take-out business which I haven't tried yet...)

I will have to try 2+2...are they dinner only or are they open for lunch too?

To add to the list of great smaller local spots...Spicy Grill by UVI for lunch. Great food, the best ribs I've ever had actually. I have friends from the states who also agree, they have offered to pay them for a bottle of their bbq sauce to bring home with them (unsuccessfully). Huge take out business and super friendly ladies working there.
